Unlimited Fiberglass - 10/22/17 03:07 PM

So last Fall I decided to cut a bunch of weight out of my Dart. I ordered a set of fiberglass bumper brackets for the front and rear of my car. A cheap, easy way to cut some weight. Once I got them, they didn't seem to fit my stock bumper or my fiber glass bumper very well. I decided to return them. When I contacted UL about returning them, a lady told me to email an address and get an RMA and that there would be a restocking fee. It was a few weeks before I could get to town to ship them, and by then I had lost the email address. I called back and talked to Kevin, he said to just ship them back and he'd take care of it. So I did and Kevin signed for them on Dec. 28th. Since then I've called every 2-3 weeks and talked to Kevin, and it's always the same story, "I'll put a note on the accountants desk, she's in on Thursdays". I've asked to have her call me, did actually get to talk to her one time, was told she didn't have time to talk to me because she was doing payroll. Been told a few times that the refund was "pending". After 10 months I would think that the refund should've gone through?

I'm just letting you guys know how their customer service has been treating me.

Thanks, I got a horrible hood from them ages ago. I have actually been considering getting another one as I have heard the quality is way better. Things like this make me want to shy away though.

I have a very similar story with those guys, but with light weight hood springs. Lied to me a bunch of times and finally received them and they wouldn't even hold the hood open. Had to order another pair from another company. They suck.

Re: Unlimited Fiberglass - 10/22/17 04:23 PM

Im needing a glass hood, so I can scratch them off the list, 10 months is way too long to deal with an issue when most refunds are a one click deal.

So who is a good company for glass parts? Simple hood is all I need.

Re: Unlimited Fiberglass - 10/22/17 05:47 PM

I bought a hood and front bumper from AAR Quality Fiberglass last winter and the quality and service were great. Most parts are made to order and they shut down over the holidays so keep that in mind when ordering.

Re: Unlimited Fiberglass - 10/22/17 05:50 PM

I used to defend them and Kevin but not anymore after a carb dealing in which Kev wanted me to "patch together" an old pos carb for one of his customers in which I said no and haven't heard from him since. THAT character obviously is carrying over to the way they STILL do business so no longer will I suggest or recommend them........THEIR loss........ down spank

Re: Unlimited Fiberglass - 10/22/17 08:20 PM

I got pile of crap hood from Unlimited, it has been about 3 years, every time I look at my car it gets me aggravated, it was supposed to be a bolt on hood & use their light springs, but the hood will start bending in the middle if left open, so I have to use a hood prop rod.

Re: Unlimited Fiberglass - 10/22/17 11:34 PM

I have there hood.
It wasn’t the greatest fit and finish, but decent enough I can live with it.
I have to pull my springs off or else it will bow like others said.
They were the only company I found that offered a 71-74 B body cowl hood. So I had to take a chance on them.
Wasn’t thrilled with the customer relations, but I’ve had worse.
In the end I have a hood that works. It isn’t perfect but with limited options for 3rd gen I was just happy to find a supplier.

I've got a GlassTek rear bumper and dash. I think their quality is good.

Hi Doc.

Why even bring up his name?

He hasn't made anything in over 20 years despite leading people on multiple times and complaining about other companies pricing/products/shipping prices.

Nevermind he's a mind cripple!

Re: Unlimited Fiberglass - 10/23/17 04:12 AM

I've got an Unlmited front bumper and my most recent 5" cowl hood. Both are race car "ok" in my book. Sure the perfectionist would prefer the hood gaps be better, but this hood weighs 14lb, and that's what I wanted to achieve over the 36lb VFN with 5" cowl molded on it. To tell you the truth, I was leary of buying from them, but it wouldn't be beyond me to drive across the desert and pay them a visit if need be. I think all three of Tony's cars (70AARcuda) have Unlimited hoods and some bumper pieces.... he's happy with them. I'll be ordering a rear bumper from them one of these days.

Btw my hood is pin on... no meat at all to have hinges of any sorts.

I tried selling there parts at one time and sold a few hoods and scoops, if I had a good thing to say about them I would.....

I have Unlimited doors on my Challenger from the 90's! They still suck... eek That's why they are covered with stickers. They are light, just junky fiberglass. I've been trying to find some steel doors for it actually.

Do you work for free? How much should a quality piece cost? How many hours do you think it takes to make a mold, and then make a nice part from that mold?

A friend of mine in Sodak, very talented body guy, bought a complete front clip for a challenger from them about the same time frame Dave.... ended up in the burning barrel after hours and hours of trying to make it work. Can't remember where he got the second one from... but it worked.

Early 90's would have put them under the old owner who's lack of quality seemed to be famous. Never understood why Kevin would have taken over and NOT changed the name.

BTW..... anyone looking for brackets for their fiberglass bumpers look no further: http://lingenfeltersbrackets.com/

Re: Unlimited Fiberglass - 10/23/17 05:03 PM

I'm really not complaining. They do work. They are just so thin that they don't hold the curved shape of the body under the body line. They just go flat. They are nice and light and I take the door off and on every time it goes in and out of the trailer. It is a race only car so...

So has anyone tried Sled City parts? I am looking for fenders for a 65 Plymouth Satellite and I have only seen them available from them.

Re: Unlimited Fiberglass - 10/23/17 11:08 PM

Had good luck with both hoods I've bought from Unlimited.

Didn't expect much when I read reviews and experts complaining about them. Took a chance as I wanted a cheap hood and the quality was a lot better than expected.

Not so anymore up
I've bought and used two of their hoods in the last four years, nice stuff now since Kevin took over up

Re: Unlimited Fiberglass - 10/24/17 03:00 AM

If & when I can afford a new hood, I am gonna grind up this crappy, junk hood that should have never been shipped to me, into tiny pieces & ship it back to them.

I think most of your choice will maybe be a cross your fingers/lucky dip .
I have had a up22 hood on my satellite since 2007 , not too bad but not exquisite . Price and supply time was good . Ordered bars off vfn or aar got shipped a front bumper for a dodge, I don't have a dodge - their response was I should have checked it . I am in Australia so that's a bit awkward , especially as I ordered for a Plymouth .
here's a link re sledcity , not everyone gets the best result -

Re: Unlimited Fiberglass - 10/24/17 06:42 AM

I think people are generally losing the point when it comes to fiberglass panel producers. There are those that do a LOT of race car stuff. Does it need to hold up? Yes. It doesn't need to be of the highest quality when weight is more the concern. Street/show cars type stuff is going to be made better and you should kind of research who does restoration/factory stuff? Or a TON of racecar stuff?

Re: Unlimited Fiberglass - 10/24/17 06:55 AM

I have had one dealing with sled city fiberglass, that was enough. I ordered a hood scoop from them. When I received the box, most of the mounting studs were protruding through the single wall cardboard box. There was NO packing materials in the box with the scoop. Several of the mounting studs were bent from poking through the box and banging into things in shipment. The front mounting stud was not in the center of the scoop opening by about 1 inch. When I contacted the owner, I was told, "bend the studs back to where they should be". This was not a $100 special, I paid over $325 for this. BUYER BEWARE!

All bolt on parts are Unlimited. Bought in 88. Needs new paint, but the glass has held up fine. I am happy with their products.
