G3 Hemi New Best

G3 Hemi New Best - 10/16/17 04:43 PM

Well this season is officially in the books after yesterday. 194 runs on the year, won a number of events, 2 Wallys, the Super Street Championship at my local track and had a fun time meeting new people and going to new events.

To top the year off the car ran a new best yesterday in testing.
incrementals:
1.374 60 foot
6.17 @ 111.08 mph
9.74 @ 136.90 mph

Only change from my normal bracket set up was tossing on a set of 325/50/15 drag radials. 2 inches less height and radial construction was worth quite a bit. The car still wants more gear, it likes shifting around 7300+ but is only going through the traps around 6900. I think there is probably another tenth available swapping from 4.10's to 4.30's or 4.56's but with a Dana, that's not a easy task.

Car is 3380# with me in the seat and has over 400 runs on it in the past 2 seasons with the only maintenance being oil changes.

Very happy with how this little engine is running. Time to freshen it up and get ready for 2018.

It will depend on what I find when we pull it apart. At the moment planning for a generic rebuild; Rings, Bearings and lifters.

Will of course check valve springs and other common failure points while we are there, not sure whats going to need replaced honestly as this is uncharted territory for the G3. Springs are Beehives with a Max life treatment so they might be perfectly fine. Lifters might be fine as well but i'll change them for piece of mind.

Congrats on the new best and a great season!

I'm hoping to get out for a final test and tune this weekend. Hoping for some good air - which is more like bad air in your area cool

95% of the time it probably could. I've never felt the need to chase it however and risk losing consistency on those hot summer days.

Also the car on 29.5x10.W's already hovers in the 9.95-10.05 range, and is only legal to 10.0.

Nice to see the G3's gaining some ground. It keeps us lowly old school small block guys pushing harder. Lol. A good Friend just picked up .20 going to a radial so I see those in my future plans next time I need tires. Now we need to search out some of that good minus sea level air.

Hard to imagine anyone having a better year than you have had this year, Dustin. But I’m sure you’ll be back turning on lights early and often again next year. I’m looking forward to seeing what you can do in the Baron too! Congrats on the new best as well!
