Guesses on E.T and M.P.H 426 hemi - 10/13/17 09:43 PM

I'd like to hear what you guys think this combo should run

3900 lb 1969 B body
426 Hemi stocker with 11.5:1 C.R
Stockish solid flat tappet cam
Full exahust with iron manifolds
Stock 727 trans with 11 inch 2800 stall converter
8 3/4 4:30 gear
Racing on seasoned redline bias ply tires

Engine makes roughly 600 HP and 500 lb ft
Now, imagine the car is dialed in, but 60 ft's are bad due to peddling the tires.

Go....

The seasoned bias ply tires being the limiters shruggy

That's very similar to the combo I had in my 67 GTX back in '01-03. Started out in the low 13's, eventually got it down to 11.80's - 12.30's depending on air density and traction. That was probably about 100 passes with no major changes in power, but tweaking lots of little things and getting the driving down. F70 14 bias plys. .

Its a well thought out combo built for factory stock deag racing. I could go into great detail, but a 11.5:1 426 Hemi with a modern designed camshaft with heads that flow over 375 cfm better be making those kinda numbers in my opinion.

Its a stocker , so it uses a factory inline 2x4 chrysler intake and a set off factory carter afb carbs.

It doesn't take much to put a Hemi into the twelves. It will run mid to high twelves. A Hemi has a big high gear, should run 112-115mph.

Re: Guesses on E.T and M.P.H 426 hemi - 10/17/17 02:55 PM

I have no doubt it makes 600 HP and It will run in the tens even with "seasoned bias ply tires" - just go watch Dudek run in the high nines with a worn out set of polyglas tires! fricking nutz but it works!

Hopefully I will have an answer to this question and we will see how close some of you came, but it will have to wait at least until next month.

That combination is made to work around those tires. That's why it works so well. That chassis/suspension may "look" stock, but it's far from it.

it still has leaf springs - I have the dana out the car now under my car before he switched to the 8-3/4 - it not as trick as you think - its how its driven and how much weight is the trunk of the car - the car on the other hand - was well thought out -light weight is the theme and every ounce counts combined with brute high rpm horsepower. Dudek is the master of the class and it shows

Re: Guesses on E.T and M.P.H 426 hemi - 10/19/17 01:14 PM

Is the car set up to work off the line with those tires?

Does the driver have experience getting off the line with a traction-limited combination?
