Barry Grant king sumo pump and regulator for efi setup - 07/20/17 07:54 PM

Hi everyone
Currently I have a 440 with an 871 bds blower with 2-edelbrock 600 carbs with a barry grant sumo pump with 4 port barry grant regulator with guage for 7lbs of fuel. I have made the decision to go with FiTech 2x4 EFI setup and replace the carbs to make the car more user friendly. I can get my hands on a Barry Grant EFI king sumo pump but my question is can I use the same 4 port regulator I have and just change the gauge on it so instead of having a range of 4-12 to something 30-70. or do i just need to buy a new one.

thanks
Frank

I would contact someone that really knows about that regulator ability to regulate above 18 lbs. of pressure before trying it on a EFI pump twocents

Look up your regulator part number and see what the adjustment range is on it. Most regulators are either low pressure or high pressure and you can't adjust them to go from one to the other. The only difference is probably the spring inside the regulator so if you knew what you were doing and had access to the parts you could turn your carb regulator into a EFI regulator. Maybe someone who rebuilds regulators can do that for you. Then it will just cost you a rebuild kit rather than a new regulator.

As Andy said you want to contact the regulator
builder and check if they sell the high pressure
spring for that reg.. on the Mallory ones they
do sell both springs.. I'm running the Holley
reg and have it at 55# for my set up
