Thats great. up I found most people in this hobby are great people and will go out of their way to help you. One time years ago I threw my belt and needed a V-belt. A friend of mine had a used one and believe it or not he actually charged me for it !! Sorry but I would not even charge a stranger for one of my used belts. But most will help out all the time which is another reason I love this hobby. And Moparts members are the best at helping others. boogie Did you get to race the car at all ? Ron

I always thought the cool people you meet, make the whole deal worthwhile.

As much as I would have, in much younger years, wrongly denied the social aspects of it...time has taught me, those are some of the best times of all.

Re: Long day at the track - 06/26/17 06:12 PM

we're not into this whole thing for the flashy wheels or dashing ET slips, that's all a rehearsal for the return to the pits where the real fun can be had.
Gee, one time some Bklyn cats saw me on the side of the road with my 65' on the way to E-town and stopped to ask if I needed help, thinking that I had broke down where it was actually that I stopped to help a perfect stranger with his 65' Impala sitting in front of me. I got us both to the track after that.

Won't be able to make yet again. New home, new home issues aside from the day job.
I will make it next year. That's a great race but HOOOOOTTTTT.
Even was invited to participate at Roadkill this year, but travels before and after will keep it home.
I am nibbling at it a little here and there though.

Re: Long day at the track - 07/01/17 05:45 AM

Back in September 2010 I had a freeze plug shoot out of the block in my 9 second '69 Dart right after I hit second gear. I don't know how I kept it out of the wall and it scared the $hit outta me.
Now I but JB-Weld around my freeze plugs.
