Napa Part # for Tremec Roller Pilot BEaring ? - 02/23/09 04:56 AM

Quite awhile back someone was talking about a Napa part number for the roller pilot bearing for the Tremec input shaft. I pulled my curent motor tonite and managed to get my previously installed roller pilot bearing out but even with a bearing puller it came out in pieces . I can probably order one from Keisler, etc but I'm looking at a couple of days turn around on installing my new motor and it would be easier if I could just drive to Napa and pick one up. Thanks.

BRG B65174. It's in a sleeve for a ford crank so you will have to press it out to use it in your sleeve. You may be able to get just the bearing from a local bearing supplier.

Thanks for the reply. I did a bit of digging last night on the web and discovered this very thing. After taking some measurments from my bearing I got into Ram Automotives web site where they list the I.D and O.D. of various pilot bearings and found several that matched mine, all Ford units. That in turn is pressed into a brass bushing that makes up the difference between the outside of the Ford bearing and the inside of the crank. I then took the Ram part # and found the same thing on Summits web site which shows applications. In this case it was for 95-98 Ford diesels as well as various small blocks. I then went to my local parts store and Bingo, they had it on the shelf for $15. Now all I need to do is press it back into the brass bushing and then into the crank. I found it interesting that they use a Ford bearing to adapt a Chebby input shaft into a Mopar crank!

If you ever need to replace the brass sleeve that you have, the Ford bearing will press into Mopar 4338876 after you remove the stock mopar pilot bushing. Just a bushed version of 53009180AB that is pictured

We actually use a modified A833 bushing and a needle roller bearing to make the Mopar pilot.
It is not a GM input and a Ford Bearing.
The GM input is a smaller diameter than the Ford/Mopar and the Ford bushing is alot bigger outer diameter than the Mopar. That would be double the work.
