Shopping for lifters....offset, pushrod oiling.

Shopping for lifters....offset, pushrod oiling. - 06/01/17 03:14 AM

Since we've learned you can't trust the manufacturer's description, I'm looking for some part #'s.

I'm running .462/.430 lobe lift in a non-bushed factory block. I'm running 440-1s on a low deck and I currently have Comp 892s. I'm hoping to find something with the same, or very close, pushrod seat height of 1.91. I want an offset intake lifter and I need pushrod oiling. My car sees a fair amount of street time for what it is.

What's the best solid roller lifter out there in the $600-$800 range?

Dumb question probably. What's the problem with the 892s you have?

The oiling hole intersects with the main oil galley. Per Comp's recommendation to others, I restricted the oiling with jbweld. I'm all the way down to a .014" hole on the galley side and the other hole is totally blocked off. I don't trust this long-term in a "street car".

And I'm here for first-hand experience because the manufacturers don't even know what they have. Crane has their ultra-pro listed as pushrod oiling and they aren't. Comp had some lifters listed as edm oiling to the roller and they aren't.

It looks like Isky has what I need. Unfortunately they are $1079, but I'm to the point where I'll spend it. Allegedly the BAM lifters work, but I'm having a hard time seeing how they would be much different since they also have the oiling hole perpendicular to the axle. They don't have the cutaway, but they do have a large hole on the same side, right below the oiling hole.

I had the same problem with Crower lifters. They told me they would work but they didn't. A lot of folks on the tech lines don't know what works in a Mopar.

The offset lifter is a bit of an issue. For non offset lifters I just use the AMC roller lifters from Comp. They are inexpensive and they work just fine for most applications.

If I needed offset lifters I'd probably see if Morel has anything that would work.

I run the Isky's. It hurt a bushing in one last year after 80 passes. Don't know why. I sent all 16 back. Only that one was bad, they fixed it at N/C. Haven't had any issues since. Lash never varies on checks more than .001" on 2-3. 320/810 spring pressure.

I'm going to do some search on these BAM lifters and talk to some people that sell them and use them. If I don't like what I hear, it looks like Isky is the way to go.
