Just an average 1979 360 with what looks like billet main caps added. Should be a nice foundation for a strong street motor

I would add studs to take advantage of the good caps.

I think that might be a "BACK DOOR" mopar 360 block for the SS cars back in the day. I have seen one other.

The pan rails are filled in more than my 70s 360 blocks. Are the later blocks all filled in there?

I almost bought, guy said it was a race block. I asked how come it doesn't have an r on the front, he said its not an r series just a high nickel, tall deck block. Thanks anyway

EDIT- Didn't see the other replies. I have the block in my possession for the moment, are there any dead give aways? The main caps do look like factory part imo.

It's not a standard passenger car block.

Look down into the soft plug holes on the sides for giggles... are the bores siamesed?

That block isnt drilled for a oil pump

Nope, gap between the bores.

the very first pic shows space between the cylinders, very dark but you can see it.

Caps are definately not stock caps. The whole thing looks freshly machined and as long as it is not bored more than about .030 over I would say it is worth at least $500-700 with the cap upgrade, mabey a little more to a guy looking for something machined and ready to build because of the money he would save.

Cap is not drilled but that don't mean the block isn't.

Well I pulled out a 74 360 block for comparison. The blocks are def different, the main webbing is much thicker, the block has normal oiling provisions why the cap doesn't i dunno. The pan rails are completely filled as someone stated earlier, where as the 74 block is recessed.

What kind of power in your opinion can this thing handle? Its supposed to be taller deck than a standard block, how would I measure that?

Also it has been freshly machined, bore is 4.04

Other than the bolt holes in the cap it looks like
it could be added.... I have no idea if the block
itself is drilled for the pump... but a external
pump could be used easily... over all it looks beefy
but that would depend on a sonic check

Deck height is measured from the center of the mains to the deck of the block.

^^ Thanks

Its measures slighty under 10 inches, from deck to main center.
