Poke the big black bear - 04/27/17 11:18 PM

Its race time. Finally our Queensland weather has cooled and this weekend is our first of three Qld mopar meetings, I'm loading up the Duster today to head up the great dividing range to a country town called Warwick that has the best 1/8 track for miles around.
I'm defending champion from last year where I ran a string of lazy 6.8s off the footbrake but this year I'm on the t brake with a whole new engine combo & Thumper carb looking for mid low 6s

Saturday is all day qualifyers run as many passes as you like, Saturday night is Beers BBQ Bonfire and live Band at the track, Sunday is eliminations but Chicago shoot out style where everyone gets three rounds win or lose, Its a great atmosphere and the track staff are sure cool too, Its not a big facility but it is sticky... very sticky

Re: Poke the big black bear - 04/28/17 10:19 PM

zero humidity at this time of year perfect air. sticky as in last year I turned the rim inside the tyre by an inch that was with leaving off the foot brake at idle

Re: Poke the big black bear - 04/29/17 12:25 AM

Traction is good, zero humidity is GREAT up bow
I use to swap the tires from side to side after the tires spun about 1.0 to 1.5 inches away where the staring mark was. I would mark them at the valve stem up
After about the third swap, rotating them from passenger side to drivers side, they would stop moving shruggy confused boogie

Bombed out first pass, blew a head gasket. still went 1.3 60ft but only an 8.0 on 7 cylinders but still the only thing hurt was my pride, a couple of beers bit of bench racing with the guys and we get to live another day... Was still great to get out into the wide open Queensland country side, love a good road trip, praise the lord.
