Who makes those valve covers? I'd like to get a set for my W9's. I see that Milodon makes a fabricated tall/wide valve cover that would work, but I like the cast one you've got better.

Those covers are the Mopar cast reverse lip ones.. I milled
the logo and the ribs off to make them smooth and to loose
a little weight

Looks like those aren't available anymore. Guess I'll have to go with some fabricated ones.

W9 take there own valve cover. Yes a stock one will bolt on but doesn't match up to pan rail. Need to order ones made for w9.

I've run W9 covers on w2,w5 and the w9s with no
issues(all reverse lip ones)

Well there are specific valve covers and gaskets made for w9 heads. There not the same as a factory cover or gasket.

I thought it was just that you had to run a wide style valve cover / reverse lip, and then trim the lip and the gasket to clear the valve springs.

Do you have a link to the W9 specific ones? I couldn't come up with anything on eBay, Jeg's, Summit, Mancini Racing...

Your correct.. a minor radius near the springs and cut the
gaskets the same... took me about 20 minutes

I ordered some Milodon fabricated ones. I don't have valves or valve springs yet, and the valve seats aren't machined. Did you have someone port your heads and all that, or did you do them yourself?

I had 2 sets of W-9s.. the first set was done by
Chapman and the other set by Shady Dell.. both were
very close on flow.. and they both set them up

Here is the correct gasket for a w9

Re: Please show off your W7 W8 W9 valley pans - 05/03/17 03:25 AM

The incorrect gasket on a w9, this is a Moroso reusable factory gasket. As you can see the end barely touches and wants to push off when tighten down.

Correct gasket and valve cover.

Correct gasket on fabricated Doug lee factory pattern valve cover.

How much interference you have with gasket.

Re: Please show off your W7 W8 W9 valley pans - 05/03/17 03:31 AM

The amount of grinding I did to try and make them work.

Re: Please show off your W7 W8 W9 valley pans - 05/03/17 03:34 AM

How much the springs rub.

Re: Please show off your W7 W8 W9 valley pans - 05/03/17 03:42 AM

I was told on here that factory reverse lip valve covers would work. Tried real hard to make them work and was never happy. Did some research on my own and out that cometic gaskets makes a valve cover gasket just for the w9s, and it fits perfectly. Then discovered that All Pro makes a valve cover just for w9s. Have recently learned that Doug Lee now makes a w9 specific valve cover also. You can also call Moroso fab shop and they will also make you the correct valve covers. Can you get by with factory pattern valve covers, sure but they don't fit out of the box. Why would you if the correct ones are available.

I've been using the MP performance ones
for years on all my W heads with no issues
(the silicone over metal frame) and they
line up better

Tried those no better! It's not the right gasket, they make the right gaskets and valve covers. It's light years easier to use. up

Re: Please show off your W7 W8 W9 valley pans - 05/03/17 04:49 AM

Tomorrow I will take pictures of the mopar gaskets you speak of and you can see how chopped up you have to make them to work, which I am sure you know since you state you have used them for years. The proper gasket requires no cutting, grinding, or messing with. You just take them out of the package and install them. Use the right tool for the job.

Re: Please show off your W7 W8 W9 valley pans - 05/04/17 04:16 AM

Not my idea of fitting, chopped up to clear springs. Silicone on the ends to try and get it to seal better so the vacuum pump would pull more vacuum. Just not the right fitting gasket and didn't work well.
