727 rebuild book. What to get?

727 rebuild book. What to get? - 02/20/09 03:53 PM

I am getting ready to rebuild my 727 pretty soon. What would be a good book to use as a reference for a street/strip oriented build? I have never even seen the inside of an auto trans first hand so something with good detail will be needed. Any tips, tricks, or special tool recommendations would be greatly appreciated as well.

BTW I already have the Mancini rebuild kit with a Kevlar front band.

I am glad there is a general consensus. Looks like I will have to make a trip to the book store.

I'm a big fan of the Munroe book but I also like to refer to a ATSG guide.I bought mine from TCI but they're not too hard to find.

I rebuild trannys for a living, and I would like to add this to think about. You may be well capable of doing it yourself, but having someone around that has done it before, to help is not a bad idea. All you have to do is cut or roll one seal during installation, and you will be taking that trans out again. I also have the Munroe book.
