I ran a gold box on the street for just a few
miles in traffic... it didnt like it, it was the resistor
that was the problem... it got SUPER hot, where I thought
it was going to burn up. I ended up pulling off to the
side and let it cool. Even in the Mopar book it says
it shouldnt be street driven

After how long are these burning out?- I've got about 600 miles of .5 hour to 1.5 hour cruises on mine. I do try and keep the revs over 2500 while cruising for the most part though.

couldnt say how long. heat kills electronics. you have had luck because of the short hauls. let it bake for a while and it will die an early death.

Higher RPMs helps by reducing saturation time but your living on the edge...

When I first started veiwing Moparts FBO was talked about in every ignition post as a must have...For the last year & a half all I hear is people pulling it off cause it has so many problems...

i ran the chrome box n/a and with my turbo stuff on my smallblock and has worked great....i just changed ignitions so i could pull timing, other than that i would have stayed with it....it was fine even on 10psi and running to 6,500 with no problems
