Monster Mopar Summer Jamboree July 28-30th @ Norwalk - 01/27/17 04:05 AM

We have some awesome new stuff 2017

11.50 Index

First Thanks to Gentry Auto for the idea and sponsorship of the 11.50 index
.500 pro tree similar to the CRT 10.0 shootout as far as rules. (I owe Don a call to finalize)

JR1 Racing Oil has become the title sponsor of MMW and they are big proponent of advancement in oil especially on the Stock and Super Stock category. So we are going to have the first Annual JR1 Drag Pak Challenge - we are looking at something like this for a layout but please be aware this is a rough draft and will be finalized soon.

$1500 to win
$150 entry
All Drag Pak powered vehicles allowed 5.7/354 Blower Cars/5.9/6.1/6.4/426/512 v10cars
Bracket race sportsman ladder Qualify based on time under national index?
If 2 cars of the same class meet during eliminations cars will run heads up no breakout

HHP Performance has come on as the sponsor of the 1st Annual HellCat Shootout bringing the absolute fastest Hellcats in the country to Summit Motorsports Park which should be a pretty killer show

Gen3 Performance has also stepped up to sponsor the 1st Annual Gen3 Performance Hemi Showdown. Gen3 Performance is the latest manufacturer in the industry producing the only aftermarket Gen 3 Hemi Block.....as seen on Tv in Rob Goss' x275 challenger

Both of those classes are in the finishing stages but by mid February we will have rules posted. The basic idea is going to be Index style racing similar to NSS to create something different than a standard bracket race.

As always we will feature Big Dog, Super Pro, Pro, NSS, Hemi Super Stock, Sportsman Trophy and King of the Street

Usually two on Saturday, and one on Sunday. Lots of cars, and on Sunday people are heading home after racing. That extra time run kills a lot of time.

What some guys have to learn to understand is the more classes the slower the program. Some guys double and triple class so they are getting their 2-3 time trials. Monster Mopar is one of the BIGGEST Mopar races of the year with big car counts so something has to give.

The opposite. We have a very late running program as it is and we have added classes which adds car count.

I would think we all have had are time trials in on Friday and ready to race for some money.

We love to race under the lights but racing till 2am isn't fun for anyone, track personell especially.

Isn't that the truth. In 2015 it was plenty dark when I lost and if I won that round the plan was to spend the night and head home in the morning. But that's OK with me. Hemi and I would have sipped a few drinks and climbed in the motorhome. LOL

I asked Mike Ross if he was going to run one of his V-10 Drag Pack cars this year but he likes to keep his cars in pristine factory fresh condition shruggy Those 2 cars seem to be very well engineered it was all I could do keep from dropping the white one into gear and making a pass down 18 biggrin
I'd love to hear that V-10 screaming down the track up

Sounds like a fun class but allowing deep staging on a .500 pro tree may cause some issues.

It just evens the field. It's like top bulb racing were as soon as both cars light both stage bulbs it's go time. Having to wait for the other driver to bump in further creates hesitation in the other driver. Hey as you know it's your race your rules and it doesn't pertain to me. Just bringing up something to think about. Won't mention it again.

I'm not going to be racing in that class but I'm with John on this one. If it's a pro tree then deep staging should not be allowed. If deep staging is allowed may as well just run a normal full tree to keep it even. twocents

That's what I thought,it was the same deal when there was a stick race years ago. I may have to think about this one, I really didn't want to pay for a race that I wasn't going to be in just to be able race in the 11.50 race.

Absolueley. We aren't sure the Dragpak class is going to pan.out.

The NMCA stock super stock class has picked a lot of cars up that we're looking for a place to race.

It only takes two cars to have a race LOL I will be ready, the mountaineer should be there, possibly the motown missile and the ramchargers cars. i would hope a few more would show up, like last year for nss and the hemi cars. i think alot more of them went to your event than chicago. Fingers crossed we can have the same for the drag pak shoot out and have a great turn out.

I can never understand why you guys bust balls on someone who you want to come out to an Ohio race. He's quiet as a church mouse and yet you insist on stirring it up.
Unfortunately if you NSS guy are going to be there you need to bring your A game as he will be bringing his.

Thank you sir!! I absolutely loved your 11.50 class, most fun class I've ever raced in. It was nice meeting you too, thanks for coming over and saying hi to my husband and I.

Footbraking off the pro tree was not easy, but I figured it out pretty quick. Lights were .055, .046. 011, .071, .071, .062 in the index class.

Got to the semi finals in 11.50 while hot lapping between 2 classes, index and trophy class where I was also going rounds.

I got the bye run to the finals in trophy and the car wouldn't start in our pit. The battery went completely dead with all the start ups and shut downs. It had been sputtering down the big end all weekend, still running the number, but found out later the battery had a dead cell in it. The MSD didn't like the low voltage, which caused the sputtering.

Just ran out of time to get it charged since the classes were going so fast at that time. Plus with the dead cell it wasn't happy anyway.

Still happy with how well I did in two classes! Especially with going back and forth between full and pro tree within minutes! LOL

Hope you have the 11.50 next year!

Re: Monster Mopar Summer Jamboree July 28-30th @ Norwalk - 07/31/17 08:15 PM

Weather was great all weekend! Except during the gambler's race which I didn't enter anyway because I had already made 6 passes that day. Nice and cool at night for sleeping too, in our uninsulated enclosed trailer, lol.

Nice hanging out with mr340 and his wheelstanding Challenger, who was also a badass and ran in three classes.

Aso nice seeing dvw and getting a hug from him and meeting his son who broke parts all over the starting line (almost got video of it but my ipod went dead!)

Wasn't nice losing to Lonnie Smith in the first round of Sportsman with my worst light of the weekend that I saved just for him. LOL!

Finally met Rick (sunroofgtx) in the swap meet area, awesome dude.

And the Flying Dartman is a hoot! He went to the finals in 11.50 and helped us out with our car too.

It was nice having my own cheering section during the 11.50 and trophy classes from various Moparts members, thanks guys!

Re: Monster Mopar Summer Jamboree July 28-30th @ Norwalk - 07/31/17 09:44 PM

Assuming i am still breathing next year, 11.50 is a go for Norwalk 2018.
I didnt find enough steam to run the class( best of weekend was 11.58) but i did go up for second time trial in 11.50 Fri and stunk it up with a .170 light.
I figured between not being able to push anybody out and needing some work on the tree people like Duster Girl would have chopped me up and made sandwich meat out of me so i spectated.

Like to have seen more car count, but considering it was the first go round, quite happy.
Next year, after talking with Josh, we will move the race somewhere else in the program.
To either Fri night, right before 10.0 on Saturday, or to Sunday.

When the time comes i will start a thread to get peoples thoughts regards that. Also had a couple people ask about making it to where you can run a trans brake. That isnt happening, it will stay off the foot like it is.

That challenger tempted me in the worst way, but no title = no sale. Still... standing there with the cash in my pocket and an offer from the owner to haul it home for me made it hard to walk away...

Saw a lot of you guys when we cruised through the pits, never seen so many fast mopars in one place!

Nobody got shot by a dragster this year either which is always a plus!

Had a great time, weather was good and got to see some friends.

I enjoyed the competing in the 11.50 index, I cut a couple of good lights .009 in qualifying and an a .005 and .047 in elimination but the car wouldn't run the number.
On the plus side I finally got a pic with some air under the front tire, not much but it's there boogie

Hellcat was a small class. I was surprised at how few cars were in 10.0 too. That used to be a huge class if I remember right?

That whole group from the east coast should come. It would be pretty epic to hold a world series of NSS....

10.0 was alot bigger in the past and one fun class wish there were more index racing ,entry fees increased car count down .$20 entry if remember correctly.as well as gambler races pretty much every car on property would participate in those days.

Re: Monster Mopar Summer Jamboree July 28-30th @ Norwalk - 08/04/17 02:42 AM

11.50 was only a $20 entry, which was much appreciated!

Re: Monster Mopar Summer Jamboree July 28-30th @ Norwalk - 08/04/17 03:11 AM

just curious.... anybody have approx car counts in the classes run?

Re: Monster Mopar Summer Jamboree July 28-30th @ Norwalk - 08/04/17 03:15 AM

NSS was 37 cars Saturday and 33 Sunday

Gamblers race Friday night was $40 entry, race was called after first round. First round winners got about $64. fwiw

Re: Monster Mopar Summer Jamboree July 28-30th @ Norwalk - 08/04/17 03:34 AM

25 in 11.50
Kinda surprised by the low entries considering the payout and 20 dollar entry fee.
Win two rounds you were in the money.
There were roughly 467 cars that made the time trial Saturday morning if you include all classes. Strong turnout.

I believe 5 cars in KOS Sunday racing for $1500. Not bad to make two passes.

don't blame you! I think the maximum might be three. That's what they told me in the lanes. I ran Sportsman, Trophy, and 11.5.
