BB oil dip stick - 01/23/17 05:59 PM

Does the 360 oil dip stick fit a BB? Just thought i might be able to reuse my new 360 dip stick.

Not properly, the crankshaft being higher in the block and the oil pan being flat would render any reading inaccurate tsk

Summit has a locking dipstick for 727. It's a rule for as fast as you go.

440 source sells a stock style un-coated one cheap, paint engine color.

DON'T buy the chrome ones. The cheap chrome starts to flake off into the oil when you're checking your oil, driving you crazy thinking that you're generating metal, tearing the engine apart, losing sleep, etc. Just say no.

Depending on the pan the stock one may not work. Mine hit the bottom of the pan before it hit oil. 7 qts in a 10 qt pan.

Regardless of the pan capacity, the "FULL" level should be the same.

Since the big block has a long skirt below the crank centerline, the pan rail is lower and the tube mounts lower on the centerline, so the BB and SB dipsticks wont interchange.
