590, how far is your engine set back to give such a clean and nice zoomie exit??? Would love to do that on my Abody smallblock but can't find the room.. Thanks, Max

When you finish post a video so we can hear that animal run with the new zoomies.

Didnt know your engine had a blower on it... dont use
zoomies if it isnt.. a non blown engine needs a collector
to do the scavenge part of it.. blown engines dont play
with the scavenge part so zoomies are perfect to get the
exhaust out quickly(if you dont need muffs)
Thanks Guys! I'm digging it.
I took this pic, I hope it shows OK, I chopped part of the frame rail out of the way last winter to make room for them. It would have been way too low otherwise. I will also cut the very bottom off the fender and raise them up a bit. I've had this on the back bumper before and I really don't want to crush them

Re: Project Zoom Me - 01/21/17 07:49 AM
Mike I've been doing some changes to my car over the last couple years. First was a 9" with all good parts, second was a set of lamb struts and spindle mount wheels. I'm currently working on a roots blower setup with Hilborn bugcatcher which will end up on my 413. I'm getting close and will have it ready this year. In fact everything in the engine is new to me except the crank and X block. I'm planning on zoomies even if I have to go over the snout bar and tires. At my age I'm sure this will be my last race engine.
590, really looks great!!!!

There are some heads up nitrous cars running zoomies now a days. So I don't know how true that statement is anymore.

Can't wait to see the finished product Jeff. Really do like the work you do.

Re: Project Zoom Me - 01/21/17 03:13 PM
Awesome!
Thanks! I'm going to try to make them higher like Skinny Kid did with their new pro mod car if possible. My car burns up so much fuel now, with regular headers when I get to the end of the track my eyes are burning and all I can think about is getting out and getting a fresh breath of air.
Blucuda, throw some alky in it, blowers love it, also put on a hat, going from having cars to injection the throttle response is absolutely unbelievable.
First set of primaries tacked on, everything is lining up nice. This crap is easy. I'm blowing out of here, way too nice to be inside today.

Being that a nitrous engine runs a wide LSA they can get
away with zoomies... but it better be a wide LSA where
there is very low scavaging... better be 116 or better
I sure like following your stuff 590! Keep it up!
Thanks Dave, I think it's coming out pretty good for a rookie. The 25.3 the other year I laid my very first welds. I know it's not on par with the pro built stuf but I'm having fun and trying to do a project every winter. I'm really thinking I need a to build a carbon fiber Cuda in the future
Posted By: Dave Hall
Re: Project Zoom Me - 01/23/17 02:36 AM
It'd be cool if they made the carbon stuff look more like the original car. There is an orange, T/S car out here in Div.7 that doesn't look much like the original. Pretty damn fugly. Some of the Daytona and Duster stuff looks cool...
Sorry, I kind of dig the pro mod look

Re: Project Zoom Me - 01/23/17 08:21 PM
Very impressive!
Thanks, Making some progress today. I cut out the bottom of the rocker so they ride higher. I will have to cut the fenders too. Ill figure out the rest of the last pipe tomorrow. I'm digging it
The fourth tube was a drag, I spent all day on it trying to make it happen. Tire rubs, need to get rid of the 28's and buy some 26's
Time to start on the other side.
I don't know how the real header guys build them, now that everything fits I will separate all the full tubes, fully weld them all, sand them down and polish the heck out of them and hopefully reweld them back the the flange just the way they are

Re: Project Zoom Me - 02/03/17 07:22 PM
Looks awesome Jeff. And the good thing is they will bolt right on mine when you are not looking.
Thanks! and by the way, I instructed the crew to keep an eye out for you
Drivers side is coming together. First plan was to sand out all the welds and polish but I'm not feeling it, this looks good enough for a race car
I've been slow. Driver's side is done

Looks good!! Where's the muffler?
Thanks guys!!!
Mufflers? lol
I'm geeked to try them out
Doing a few other little upgrades this winter. I got some wider Weld Alumastar double beadlocks for the rear (thanks Hardcore B) some matching Weld Alumastar for the front. 14MM pulleys, Kevlar Belt. Brian Robbins is cutting me out a 1.5 spacer for the blower, It should also mover the blower forward an inch. I got an RCD 2 piece crank Hub, Crank trigger should help lock the timing in. Shooting for 4.5s or 4.6s this year. That should put us only in the top half of Milan's Drag Radial class as our only Mopar representative. If 2017 goes well will be looking for a better blower for 2018 and try to find another 10-15 pounds of boost
Looks great! Keep up the good work!

Your door must just clear
Thanks Guys,
Yeah I started all the way back where it would just clear the door as a starting point, then work my way forward
I had to put a pic up, she is looking good. I cut about 5 inches off the front fenders. I hope to make a lot of noise in the next couple days.

Thanks, I get some up very soon when it fires. More on May 5th doing some passes at Milan in their Drag Radial class
Fired her up last night, I can't believe how loud she is and how much force comes out of the zoomies. Friday's race is cancelled, Friday the 12th I'll give her hell. I hope the link works

out of curiosity, [hijack thread] what rate coils are you using on the front ? thanks in advance !
I'm really not sure the rate, I bought springs from Magnum Force when I purchased the upper A arms, I gave them the weight and they said these are the ones I need......sorry I can't be more helpful

Thanks guys, we are running 31 pounds of boost this season, we should be able to go some rounds and get me a little seat time (I'm new at this) we plan on stepping it up next year to 40-45 ponds of boost, it should put us in the hunt in our local races

Re: Project Zoom Me - 05/06/17 08:28 PM
I have a friend who has ruled the west coast 10.5 PSCA class, he defines the amount of boost as the amount of resistance to airflow
His old Pro Charged motor ran with 35 lbs. of boost as well as with twin 88MM turbo, he swore his SB Ford heads flowed 430 + CFM at .700 lift
He ran 6.87 at 195 MPH 5 years ago on those tires with that motor

Definitely sounds good that's for sure.

My local competition is pretty tough, I spoke to one guy here at Milan, he says he is running 75 lbs of boost on his 481X, sounds insane to me. He just ran a 4.02 @196 down south the other month. Most boosted cars on radials around here run 40-45 LBS
I got it out, Having trouble with the engine cutting out, starts breaking up about 4,900, will not rev past 5,200. Short shifted at 4800 (instead of 6900) broke up on the top end for best pass of the day of 5.24 129MPH. So much more left in it

Glad that you got it out. Sounds like your Grid is pulling timing or a rev limit is being activated somehow?

Re: Project Zoom Me - 05/14/17 07:30 PM
Try closing up the spark plug gap down to .010 to .015 to get rid of the high speed miss
I've got a weird miss I'm chasing on my bracket car on E85, I wll conquer it
Thanks Guys! I'm still pumped.
I changed the rev limiter twice had no effect.
Spark plug gap is at .025, with the ProMag 44 and alcohol I have been told that is where it needs to be......??? Do you run mags at 10-15 gap? is anyone running that combo tighter?
Posted By: Cab_Burge
Re: Project Zoom Me - 05/15/17 02:21 AM
That guy I mentioned had his Pro Mag 44 amp plugs gap at .015 and then .010 when they turned the boost up on the BAE aluminum all billet motor
They had to replace the coil wire a lot more often with that big amp mag also along with the spark plug wires more often than twice a year
Posted By: Dave Hall
Re: Project Zoom Me - 05/15/17 02:49 AM
Heard that from my BAE buddys!

Re: Project Zoom Me - 05/15/17 03:59 AM
Did you have to make any tuning changes for the header change? I wonder if it leaned out some with the new Zoomies? Looks killer!
I had no fuel mixture change after adding the zoomies but the plugs don't look like they are getting too much heat. Next time out I will tighten up the spark gap and see what happens
Just thought I would toss this out , When we get it right she is going to scream. Even not running right I'm having a blast!!

Nice work again Jeff, unfortunately I couldn't make it out Friday to see. As you said, it will really fly, just keep on your pace. Good to see you are making progress. Impressive!
I'm pretty pumped, I went to SSI and picked up a blower last night. This one should put out 40-45 PSI with a much cooler charge. I'm down sizing from 590 cubes to 528 on the Hemi......I can't wait to try it out, come on spring!!!!

Wow that is sweet!SSI is only about a mile from my house and is who did a freshen on my blower and they let me take video of a cnc making billet rotors and 1 blower on there dyno.Good luck this yr
Thanks, I remember seeing your video. They gave me the whole tour Tuesday night and showed me how they make the stuff, very impressive. I love the screw blowers they were making...... I was scared to ask how much
