Thanks!I think it could use some plenum like 1" but other than that.

I'd make it a plate that bolts to the blower mounting bolts

12.5 x 15.5" I am hoping 1/2" will do[onlinemetals.com]

The carb adapter has 6 x3/8 bolts bolting in the center and would seal best but is another option

The outer portion would be a killer warm up plug tray. Lol. Pretty cool build. I've often wondered if anyone has made Na use of a blower manifold.

I'd hate to drill the adapter holes into the intake then plan on putting the blower back on at a later date. I'd use the big plate, 1/2 inch thick and seal it around the perimeter. There's nothing to leak. I think it will work fine.

Thanks for your help so far. Here is the base of the carb adapter showing a nice taper into the plenum
The side linkage to the carbs will work on a horizontal plane mounted on bar stock bolted to the blower studs on a pivot

My wife would ban me from the kitchen forever if I had all that sitting on her counter top beside the sink. LMAO

Great job. Very neat idea.

Re: BDS intake Modman style - 01/15/17 09:52 PM

The plenum volume is 168" but it is so shallow I think it will hurt cylinder fill and plenum volume is about the only thing I can adjust.
Thanks Killermopar.

I think my plate idea with the adapter bolted to IT is the best option.

Thank you, certainly the easiest,What are the opinions of the Modman intake from Indy?

I guess I'm just too much of an "inside the box" thinker.

Rather than drill extra holes in my expensive blower manifold, I'd just try and find a used TR to put my two carbs on.

That being said...... I'll still be interested to hear how it works out.

The whole point really is to see if the BDS will work like a Modman intake might so I am not out anything but time and 30$ for an aluminum plate that I can make other use of.

I agree,I wouldn't drill the BDS manifold. No personal experience with a ModMan intake, but I've read it's best as a blower manifold in most applications. Guessing the open plenum is hard to balance cylinder fill with just a carb or carbs.I'm sure the level of this varies with the carb/engine combo though.

Re: BDS intake Modman style - 01/16/17 05:20 AM

I was told that the Modman was best with two carbs, and lousy with one. I can confirm that, however I bought the EFI Modman for my 440, and was told that it works great with one or two throttle bodies.

Re: BDS intake Modman style - 01/16/17 07:33 AM

Will it work and run....sure. Will it be good....highly unlikely. That is going to have no plenum volume and I think the signal will be terrible.

Re: BDS intake Modman style - 01/16/17 04:27 PM

Thanks RTSrunner,lockjaw-express,Monte_Smith for your info!I agree on the dual carbs over single. The plenum has volume but it is split in 1/2 and with a short plenum I am sure it will lack in fill volume but maybe suffer more at upper rpm.I wont add much to the plenum with a 1/2" plate so it is what it is with that and a larger carb spacer is not a good band aid.

Re: BDS intake Modman style - 01/16/17 04:43 PM

Here is a pic of my EFI modman, with a single carb just to move it around...it does take a LOT of pump shots to start it, and smooths out when warm.

I now know why I was told to run two carbs!

Thanks for the pic, info. With my blower I am used to more pump shot.

Clanton,Did you decide not to use the blower or break it? Or is this only a test?
