Looks good.. pretty simple build... and I still like the blow off in there but isnt needed.. but still good EDIT I like that its eating your wrench... LOL
I'd hate to drill the adapter holes into the intake then plan on putting the blower back on at a later date. I'd use the big plate, 1/2 inch thick and seal it around the perimeter. There's nothing to leak. I think it will work fine.
Thanks for your help so far. Here is the base of the carb adapter showing a nice taper into the plenum The side linkage to the carbs will work on a horizontal plane mounted on bar stock bolted to the blower studs on a pivot
The plenum volume is 168" but it is so shallow I think it will hurt cylinder fill and plenum volume is about the only thing I can adjust. Thanks Killermopar.
I guess I'm just too much of an "inside the box" thinker.
Rather than drill extra holes in my expensive blower manifold, I'd just try and find a used TR to put my two carbs on.
That being said...... I'll still be interested to hear how it works out.
The whole point really is to see if the BDS will work like a Modman intake might so I am not out anything but time and 30$ for an aluminum plate that I can make other use of.
I think my plate idea with the adapter bolted to IT is the best option.
Thank you, certainly the easiest,What are the opinions of the Modman intake from Indy?
I agree,I wouldn't drill the BDS manifold. No personal experience with a ModMan intake, but I've read it's best as a blower manifold in most applications. Guessing the open plenum is hard to balance cylinder fill with just a carb or carbs.I'm sure the level of this varies with the carb/engine combo though.
I was told that the Modman was best with two carbs, and lousy with one. I can confirm that, however I bought the EFI Modman for my 440, and was told that it works great with one or two throttle bodies.
Thanks RTSrunner,lockjaw-express,Monte_Smith for your info!I agree on the dual carbs over single. The plenum has volume but it is split in 1/2 and with a short plenum I am sure it will lack in fill volume but maybe suffer more at upper rpm.I wont add much to the plenum with a 1/2" plate so it is what it is with that and a larger carb spacer is not a good band aid.
