I like that it is up north so it won't be a hundred degrees. Plus Cordova's only 6 hours from home. Byron will be a new track for me, never been there before.

My plan is to sit out this year, but its going to be tough. Maybe I will win the lottery by the time registration starts lol

I have raced all those tracks on drag week with the exception of Byron.

Gone 8 times.Like Clark, Byron is the only track I have not gone to.Think I'll go to Cordova for the start and catch up with everyone and then head back home.Think I'll give RMRW a shot.Ive never been to Pueblo or Kearney. To the shop Joel. Times a wasting.

Nice, all but Gateway is an easy day trip and sleeping in my own bed each night for viewing. Too bad I don't have a car that could compete. chicago based guys won't be far from parts and shops the whole week...

Don't you have a turbo C-body? That alone should get you some ink in Hot Rod.

Yes, but not looking for ink about how it's so _slow_ compared to how they thought it should run smile

I'll pass. For me DW is about adding to the list of vacation spots and Byron isnt enough to make spend the money.

I'm sure the track list will keep some of the regulars away, as they have already raced at most of the tracks. One good thing is, IF you break down this year, getting back to the home track isn't 10 hours away.

Since most of it is in one state, it will be interesting how they run the route, to get the average 250 miles a day.

Re: Drag Week 2017 tracks and dates announced. - 01/05/17 02:29 PM

Looks like the first couple days will be fairly long drives. 261 miles on day one, and 285 on day two. THAT is using the shortest distance on MapQuest. Add in the bad directions they usually give, unknown detours, and not taking the quickest route... I can't wait. Joel... Get BUSY!!!

I am glad I started in 2012, since then all the drives seem easy haha. Day one 2012 Tulsa to Ennis the long way was 382 miles. Day 4 was 415 miles and that was Hot Rod sending us the easy way(thankfully).

Re: Drag Week 2017 tracks and dates announced. - 01/05/17 03:11 PM

furious70 should take his Charger!!

I still need to buy something, at the very least I'll probably drive out for GLD and maybe Byron.

Joel, still planning on the coupe?

Jeff, bad idea here, but there is nothing stopping you from taking the GTX. It's just a clutch adjustment, a set of street tires, and a milder tuneup away! Maybe swap it over to E85 so you don't need to find race gas?

Edit: Clark, hope you change your mind or win the lotto. laugh

Re: Drag Week 2017 tracks and dates announced. - 01/05/17 04:29 PM

Nick, I'd have to install mufflers, and figure out how to cool the cement filled block... It works great at the track, but not sure it would going down the road. The 4.56 gears would be a pain also. I'm more then happy to be a trunk monkey for Joel.

I might go and spectate also...vacation time will be tight this year, and I won't compete unless I can be competitive...and that won't happen this year unless I run the brackets...
