How much clearance will the 3/8 give you?
I had 1 inch and my carb hit the hood. I ended up chaining the motor down and bought a six pack hood from mmissle.

I had a little more than 1" between the top of the carbs and my scoop. So I built a 6 pack style aircleaner that sits down over the carbs. Now I have more aircleaner surface area and it looks neat also.

I already have a tA hood........ it just barely and i mean barely touched bfore and I have solid motor mounts.... this new setup is only .25 taller so 3/8's will have no rub.....

but what way would you rather go.... will milling the intake affect performance..

I am guessing that you mean from the top of your
air cleaner... if you have enough air filter that
the engine can breathe then all you need is JUST clear
(if you dont have any frame twist) a 1/4 " should work

but when it just"barley" touch it mad a spider cirle crack in the area about the size of a 1/2 dollar... so will milling the intake 3/8's hurt performance or lower it via the k member

Probably the easiest way would be to put 4.. 1/2"
spacers between the frame and K-member

Have you considered a drop base air cleaner, maybe you already have one. If so i would use a diffrnt intake, seems like it would be better than ruining a new intake(no resale value).

Well if the trans has a rubber mount I would unbolt
the motor mounts and lower the K then look to see if
there is any angle at the motor mounts when you bolt
then back up, if there is any angle change then add
a shim to the motor mounts. Basically you would be
pivoting the engine down from the trans mount forward
to the motor mounts. The tailshaft will raise up on
the ratio of difference between the 2 points
