Low Mount Alternator bracket

Low Mount Alternator bracket - 11/29/16 05:00 PM

Please excuse me if I have placed this in the wrong forum.

I am looking for a low mount alternator setup that will allow the use of the small denso alternator on a small block in my 67 cuda. I just need to have it run off the crank pulley since I will be running an electric water pump

Thanks

No one makes a low mount alt. bracket for a small block. I talked to DMI about it, he said he might make one at some point but did not have anything in the works.

I have the exact setup you are referring to with a Moroso electric pump. I used the AR Engr. brackets that came in the kit with the alt.

My neighbor is a machinist and he made me some standoffs to get the alt. to sit where it lined up with the crank pulley. They are counter bored to fit snugly into the water pump housing.

I used a Power Master BB/Chevy on mine. Both w/elephant ears & a motor plate. Worked out good for me.
Thanks, Ken

OP was asking about a small block application. Plenty of choices out there for low mount alt. on a big block, none for a small block. Zero.

I make a bracket that hangs off of a motor plate for the SB. I also made a low mount bracket for a SB that hung off of the fuel pump boss. So there are ways to do it but nothing off the shelf.

I contacted Bullet when I was looking for one, never heard back.

Does look like a nice piece, would have made things a lot easier for me.

But, like most have said, it's probably best to come up with something on your own. I started to make one for the driver's side but changed directions and abandoned the idea.

Mazzolini used to make one, called him a few years ago about another run. Nothing materialized so I just ended up just making one with a powemaster bracket. I'd post a pic but it's in pieces now.

Here is mine. It mounts my crank trigger also.

I spoke with Mazzolini about that bracket. He said he lost contact with the cat who made it. I believe it may have even been someone on here.

Just for the record, that bracket was not a low mount but compensated for the lack of mounting points when you ditch the mechanical water pump.

In theory, the method I use is the same but I'm using a two piece bracket where the one Mazzolini had was one solid piece. Member OneBadFish has one, he posted the pic below in an older thread.

That is an old pic from maybe 2010 or so? I still use the bracket though it works great. I have thought about having a copy made locally just to have a spare.

When Bob originally started selling it I called him ASAP and got one ordered, I had a really ugly setup on there before haha. I think the member that designed it was Sloan and I think his user name is now PUNK.

The one off the fuel pump plate is the type I did
but I made a bracket to lower it farther... still
mounts to the pump plate
EDIT
you cant see the bracket but you get a idea of the
location of the alt
wave
