When I first moved to NC

How far back !!!
That's Bud Faubels old Daytona car at the old 75-80 in Frederick MD,then Peterson Dragway in Tipton ,PA about 25 mi from me after it ended up here,eventually got scraped,had the long rams off of it for years,sure wish I had the car today !

Us oldtimers have some old ones floating around. Here's one of me about 40 years ago. LOL

That has to be Keystone !

No that's old " Nu-Be" an outlaw track I used to run at. Closed years ago and was 40 miles north of me in New Bethlehem, PA.

ha! ha! no, that was a "keystone wanna be"! ah, nu-be. i lived there from around 67 [shortly after it opened] to when it closed on september 3rd, 1983. that was the day the "dancing bear" colt met it's demise at it's debut. my old man worked with one of the owners in construction, "flakey" bob fiscus. the mc cullogh brothers ran the quaker state gas station in new bethlehem and a small junk yard just out of town, and burford[i forget his first name] were the owners. they had a 99 year lease on the property, but obviously that went out the window as today the track has a couple of gas wells on the lot including one on the track itself. i haven't been there in years. last time was around 2004 or so. was meaning to, but life got in the way. i have lots of pictures some place here i have to find.

My early addiction to the sport. The first picture is at Rock Falls vintage 2002. Ran 10.40's. The second demonstrates how bad my addiction was - same car, 3 years later. Re back-halved with a 580ci B1 headed mega block running 9.30's. No regrets!

1966 64 Dodge running a "Street Ram" 426. Purchased from Grand Spalding Dodge ( actually have the bill of sale with "Mr. Norm" being the sales man ). Car ran a best of 12.85 completely stock except for a gear and slicks. US30 drag strip, Indiana.

US 30 in Wisconsin? ? Never heard of this.

Curious, what was a "Street Ram" engine combo?

The "street ram" wedge was introduced in 1964,65 in B-body cars only. It was basically an increased bore version of the 413 single 4 brrl carbed engine. Not much similarity to the 426 max wedge motors. Smaller heads, exhaust manifolds, hydraulic cam, single 4 brrl cast iron intake. Very streetable and could still run in the high 12's. Pretty awesome for the day, and not too shabby for today.

Back as a street car, first time at a track

How many years did it take to progress from near stock to all out puller?
What are the wheels for under the weight box? Nose dive protection?

And what's the reasoning for converting to a later model front end on this truck? clearance?

Here are some of my cars over the years. the 70 Duster was my first NHRA stocker. When I converted it to 71 it was also the first hi comp 340 stocker to hold the NHRA record in the 11's. the Demon was the first low comp 340 to hold the record in the 11's and the 10's. The 70 Dart was a car I bought and my good friend Eric Voigt drove. The pic of the car on the trailer was OCIR. My Grandfather helped me build that trailer. The Demon pic is Fontana and the Dart pic is Las Vegas.

Started pulling with the truck in the early 80's. For years there weren't many rules so we ran 440's with Nitros. Rules really didn't starting coming in until late 90's. In 2004 things started getting serious with engines and rules. It was a 500ci club back then. After about 850hp we could not get the truck frame to stop bouncing so we took about 6 months and built a chrome moly chassis in 2008. After we did that the rules changed to follow the NTPA rules of 650ci. Thats when we had about 5-6 years of playing with the 4.840 B1-TS engines. 2013 was the year we switched over the the 5" Goodwin Hemi's. Our last B1-TS engine is still running strong in a pulling truck from Mass.

We swtiched body styles just to give the truck a new look. The old body is still at our place for a keep sake. The wheels under the front are for exactly what you said. There was a big accident where the transfer skid malfunctioned and the skid hit the back of the truck, dug the front bumper into the ground and flipped and crushed it.
