New Best Runs

I went racing this weekend to try out a new convertor and wound up with a new best.

1.0822 60ft
3.2219 330ft
5.0591 et
132.98 mph

Even after this I'm not satisfied with the convertor and ready to try another one. this one tries to pull the rpms down a little before it shifts and falls back to far after the shift.
Hopefully I can get one that will work like I feel it needs.

Do you run an air pan on your carb? I have the same scoop, my carb sits level with the sheet metal and I've always wondered if that's enough scoop. Mine's not sealed to the hood, intake porter told me not to

Yes I have the carb sealed with a pan, I have pics of it on my old computer.

Right now I have an FTI 8 inch but I'm getting ready to order a 7inch from someone to see if I can get it where I want.

I have a little too much gear in it trying to get the RPMs where I want them and I'm sure that will have to come out when the convertor gets right

Have you ever tried it without? My guy convinced me I didn't need it, he was a head and intake developer for a big Nascar team but all his personal stuff is drag racing related

No 7 inch yet Al. But I'm getting ready to to pull the trigger on one.

My car slowed in back-to-back tests when removed and something most overlook is the velocity of air at speed and it's effect(s) on the bowl vents and the reason to tie em together to equalize the pressures...........

I may try it without it and see what happens

Can't hurt when you are so so close! My guy explained to me that a smaller volume scoop with a pan can easily trap air and make a blockage on a fast car. Food for thought but I would be very curious to hear your results. It's 20* here.... no more racing

WOW I'M SLOW!!! those are some really nice numbers!

Might be the valve body and not the convertor....I have a Griner in my race car, that always shifts with less rpm drop than any other we have tried.

I've tried 3 different valve body's and all are the same.
I think it needs a 7 inch convertor

I didn't get take a good pass so I never took the air pan off.
The track was super and my car would wheelie like crazy and would unload the tires when it got on the wheelie bars. I kept tightening the front up to try and stop it but never did,
Time to take a little bit of gear out.

Im racing next weekend so I'll leave it off on 1 of my time runs and see what happens
