Lenco help - 11/02/16 03:29 AM

I think I have 1st gear slipping but it keeps putting down new best sixty foot numbers. Currently running 1.15 to 1.18. But the motor does not drag down like it use to when you put it in gear. And it seems mushy putting it into the lights. It has about 100 runs on it lol. I adjusted it once a few years ago and went to adjust it again today and seem to have ran out of threads on the shifter tower.

Does anyone know what clutches and steals a CS1 lenco uses?
Also what should I set the clutch clearance too?

Can't help with that. But lots of listings usually on RJ for CS1 parts. Maybe you need to take a little counterweight out of the plate if it likes the higher rpm.

It's a trans break, has a Bruno drive in front

Lenco discs are anywhere from .058 to .062 when new. They get to .052 or so they are worn out. They get to .050 and they are JUNK. Clutch pack clearance is .080-.100

You should never have to run the air pod down on an air shift trans to tighten it up. If you do this you are taking out free play, which tells you the clutches are toast and running it down and taking up clearance just wears whats left faster.

When setting up clutch pack clearance, like any other trans it's floater, disc and ends up floater and then wave spring. You want as many discs as possible, but sometimes you have to stack an extra floater to get clearance right if another disc won't fit. They also make all different floater thickness for setting clearance.

On another note, if the car is 60footing better with a slipping trans, this confirms what I told you earlier about hitting the tire way too hard and wadding it up

It's manual shift right now.

Thanks for the help Monty. I have it launching fairly well. It's leaving at 3700 rpm or so at anywhere between 5 and 7 psi. At full timing. On a bad track I leave at 4-5 psi. Good tracks are 7psi. .

I'll get it out tomorrow and get it apart.

Mine are right at .055. So the bottom of your tolerance. I'll try to source some clutches local. The steals look good, no heat and the clutches look good.. lol

Thanks for all the help Monty and Jeremiah. I sourced some clutches of both thickness, I had to machine .100 out of the center of FORD FMX clutches and now I have a lot of spares😀

Right on, glad to see you are making headway. I'll be interested to see what you find. What are you setting the shift tower pressure at?
