I have both sitting on the shelf. There is a height difference, inch sounds about right. The last time I weighed them the original magnesium one was about 16 pounds lighter than the Mopar aluminum. The ports and plenum are larger on the Mopar manifold.

If your asking about the new Mopar two piece replacement crossram intake compared to the original 1965/68 SS aluminum and magniesum SS crossram stay with the originals up

2 things, my car came with the mopar manifold. and it has an AFX scoop on it. i'd like to put the reguler hemi scoop on it but i don't have the clearance. barely fits with this scoop. can't lower engine only change manifold.

If you can beg, buy, steal or borrow a original SS Hemi crossram intake, aluminum or mag. for your car I would do that in a heartbeat up
I think you will be shocked on the diiferences in them shruggy
BTW are you using the stock Holley Hemi SS carbs.?

I just switched from the crate single 4bbl to the Mopar X-ram with holleys during a engine refresh. My engine builder added 1/2" spacers which I swapped for 1/4" and I did a custom air cleaner. All said my fiberglass hood with hemi scoop sits up about 1/2" at the cowl due to the lack of clearance ( rear portion of air cleaner-to-rear roof of scoop). Overall I am happy with the set up. I still have some tuning to do and with a 5 spd the tune is more forgiving.

The mopar performance one is not a replacement one for the original. It is a copy of the cast Ray barton one as far as flow. They do make more power than an original but there is usually a drivability problem for the street.
I have made as much as 980hp with one and I know you cant make that with a stock one. Also since the lids come off you can get in there and do some modifying to them aspecially with cross over and plenum. There is the problem with the height tho.

Jake makes some great points + a lot of original 1s were cut and modified to where you may never get them to work for you. I have an ss dart clone which is pretty true to the original 1s and I would love to have the original looking crossram but cost keeps me from doing it + possible driving issues with it ( as the Mopar 1 works ,fine for me as is). I cut the area out under the scoop and modified a dual quad air cleaner to work with my setup and the car drives great (I put about 1500 miles a yr on it going to cruise ins and car shows). I also used the spacers between the k member and frame.

i love the original looks. so i'll probably go with a magnesium.
and eventually sell the Mopar 1. Should i get a original 1 or repo Magnesium? is there a difference?

Weren't the 1968 SS X rams aluminum also? I thought the mag X rams was 1965 only along with the aluminum K heads in 1965 confused
