New best in ultra street trim - 10/12/16 03:42 AM

Been working on a lot of things and testing a lot. Trying to creep up on it. Went 5.10 @ 140 , then went to clay city for josh race and slowed the car down 5 mph .... Trying to run it too lean. Car is still 100lbs over weight and no where near where it should be in 60 foot numbers.

Congratulations Tony! I know you've been working your A$$ off on that thing

that's the plan, but 5.10 aint cutting it there. lol Trying to at least get it in the 4.90 range....still not a front runner ! But maybe can go one round or two

Tom Romeo has helped a lot with the suspension and shocks.

im not using the gen1 radial, im using the "new" SS tire, the one that looks like a snow tire LOL I think its the same as the first gen one, but just has bigger tread on it = less contact patch ? So far the best 60 has been 1.26 about a tenth away. Have been working on getting the car A to B and trying to get the MPH up, then we will work on the 60 and getting agressive

Tony:
1. Have you run both the original ET Street Radial and the new S/S version with the same setup to know how they compare?

2. Does your car still use the column shifter?

The Romeo's are great, know there way around a racecar for sure. Steve helps me out with my car when it's running.

And you are right ultra is crazy at Cecil.

Re: New best in ultra street trim - 10/12/16 05:54 PM

While I know you want power, you should be concentrating on making the car WORK. More power won't matter if you can't stick it. A tenth in 60ft would likely make that 5.10 pass a 4.95 with NO more extra power. Make what you HAVE work and then worry about what you don't have. The car won't 60ft and you know it's overweight. Both those items are robbing you of a lot of ET.

Shawn Pevlor went 4.59, maybe even quicker at SGMP. No big deal you think, because he is the man on a plate right now......UNTIL you look at the mph. He doesn't run big mph for the ETs he goes, but the car is a rocketship in the first half of the track. IT WORKS.

We have a new motor in the Buick. It really hasn't made a full, clean A-B pass yet and that's fine because that is not what I am working on. Before, even when it was fast, the graphs were junk and it only went down because the track was stellar. So the goal with new motor has been smooth application of power and smooth graphs. We have heated the tires 11 times and it has left the starting line 10 times. Our first 60ft was a 1.30 and the last 4 have been between 1.10 and 1.07, with what I will call a pretty damn soft setup. I think we can go sub 1.0s when all dialed in. Before you say it's not the same tire, I KNOW that, but there are guys on the same tire as you who are better than a tenth quicker in 60 than you and that is NOT about power. Its about power management and car setup. So even when you have enough power to run 145 or whatever number you are looking for, you will still have to manage it early, so figure that part out NOW

140 is the number I was looking for. You know I started with small tuneups and inferior parts. From now on I will be working on the front half and getting the weigh down.

For what its worth mine went easy 1.30/5.80 at the Clay city event. I could only dream of your power level. My bet is you are closer to your goal than what you think. Video is your friend.

Ran it last year on the GEN1 275, but had no where near the nitrous....cant compare the numbers. This year have only beeno on the SS 275/60 basically the same as the gen1, but different tread pattern.

YES I have a sportsman racepack with 02 and panvac added on
