Limiting wheel stand while useing Caltracs, HOW? - 02/11/09 02:17 PM

I know it's kind of an oxymoron but right now footbraking "El Picoso" could pull the front hoops anywhere from 6" to about 20". I am putting a transbrake and don't want to find the car on the bumper. What is the best way to limit the front end with out unloading the rear?

thx Ted

Adjustable front shocks / front travel limiter. This is how I am going to attempt it. If that doesn't work, I will be pulling timing out of it with the programmable digital 7 or putting a launch program into it for control.

I run travel limiting straps on the front. Seems to work.
As said before you can run a stiffer adjustment on the shock to slow down the initial lift.

Our charger did nasy wheelies with the tortion bars, and stock front ewnd under it, when it was switched to a tube K member, and coilovers with a limiting strap that helped a bunch.

this is before the new front end.

this is after I believe.

This was before we owned it, but Blake told us every trick on the car, now its on its way back to a stock apearing street car. We sold the 588 we had for it, and tha cage is gone, some guys hate me for it, but its a real R/T SE 440 car. And our finances arent in there anymore to keep it as a race car.

Limiting the front end travel or put some weight back in the front of it. What's the percentage of weight front to back?

A good set of whelie bars set up correctly will cure that problem

Its been my experience that a good set of double adjustable front shocks will do wonders for giving you control of the wheelies.

Run them at an NHRA owned track.

There are many ways to do it.
1.adjust the Cal-Tracs
2.adjust the rear shocks for less hit
3.Get Afco shocks on the front-adjust it out
4.limiters on the front
5.Dont dead hook and go faster-air pressure
