Pro Parts A Body 440 headers info... - 02/11/09 03:36 AM

I just bought a set of Pro Parts A Body 440 headers on ebay. Figured I needed 2 inch with an 11:1 RB stroker...

I've heard good and bad about them, these were about 1/2 the price of a set of tti's. Anyone here use them?

I use them and so do a lot of others here.A search will get you all the info on them.

I don't know of anything "bad" about them, except maybe a few holes in the fenderwells, but that's it.

You're going to need to find a used set, cause the 'new improved version' won't be 1/2 the price of TTI's ....

Nice car Ari.
Any downsides to proparts, plug access, trans removal, tyre and starter clearance etc.

thank you

tips :

bolt all the pipes on the two heads , but do not tigthen them

push in the collecters ,ist a little hard to do but if the pipes where tigthened on the heads its very hard to do

when the collecters are on thigthen the header bolts on

#6 pipe

to get to this spark plug make a hole on the fender well ,use a long extention to get to it

all last 4 : 6-8 , 5-7 plugs use an extention to get to

all 4 : 1-3 , 2-4 front plugs you can get from the side or under the car

#7 pipe take off the head and the U pipe going to the collecter and the starter comes off

the moter trannie in the car you can assemble the headers on

215 75 15 front tires 27 inch tall very lite rub marks but no problems touching and bent pipies

I think #1 pipe need to ding the pipe in the pitman arm touches it

a moter plate helps you adjust engine heigth too

you can take the trannie out ,taking off the collecters help more

I have some pics some one asked for and will post them

The NEW replacement headers are finally available at Bob Mazzolini Racing. I saw them and they are CLEARLY nicer construction than the origionals. Nicer flanges, welds, fitment. I would buy a set if I had a Big Block A-body.

It says 459 on the site but people are saying 779, either way, i will wait for the pound to rise against the dollar before buying unless a decent used set come along.
Ari
Thanks for all the pics and info.
I hope i haven't stole the original poster's thunder too much.

Bobs website is definitely not current. The 459 price was the OLD ProParts headers that are not available any longer. To be honest, the latest versions of the proparts brand headers were nowhere near as nice as the older sets they used to make. Bobs versions are WAY nicer than any sets ever were.
