Ran my 434 on a chassis dyno yesterday - 09/03/16 04:24 AM
I recently replaced the main body on my Bigs 950HP with a BLP billet main body. The original body had 1.40" venturi's and the new one is 1.59" so the tune is completely differently. I work 12 hour swing shifts so I have missed the T&T's here and wot tuning on public roads is not a chance I'm going to take. Plus when I ran it on the engine dyno we didn't mess with the timing much, so this was a chance to play with it.
I had the carb fairly close with 78/88 mains, it wound up with 80/85. I suspect that on the end it'll be 78/87 as it was rich at cruise with 80's in the front.
The timing ended up where we stopped on the engine dyno, 34°. We tried 32,34,36 and 38°, 32° was only down 1 hp from 34°. It was interesting for sure as I'd never been on a chassis dyno.
The only problem was discovered after I was home and the car was in the shop. Apparently the car moved on the rollers and bent the shock plate on the drivers side and bent one of the adjusters on one of my brand new Viking shocks. I called and sent photo's to the dyno operator/owner and he says he didn't do it.
Now I have put 10-12 miles on the car since installing them and this was the first time trailering with them on. I know for a fact it wasn't bent when I loaded it because I backed both adjuster knobs on both shocks per Viking's instructions. I have tie down plates welded to my shock plates that I use to tie the car down but the dyno guy wouldn't use them and insisted on using axle straps. I finally told him to forget it I'd take care of it myself.
