Monster Mopar heads....SOUTH Sept 23-25th

Monster Mopar heads....SOUTH Sept 23-25th - 08/18/16 03:48 AM

I have taken on the racing program at Clay City this year. We have made some changes, added some classes and changed some things for the better I hope.

I will make another post outlining the details that may seem fuzzy shortly but wanted the info out there.

We will follow MMW rules for Hemi, NSS, and KOS and track rules for the bracket classes

Free Hemi race Sat and Sunday 1/4 mile
Saturday payout is listed but we are going to add a high roller Hemi gamblers Sunday as well. In addition the track is throwing another 500 in the pot for the Sunday Race

NSS 1/4 mile NSS Rules
Saturday and Sunday race payouts listed above

KOS 1/8th mile Saturday race only
MMW rules and Payout Structure

Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman, are 1/8th mile Mopars v The World
Mopars will be kept seperate from brand X cars until the finals on each side are complete
Run off between final Mopar and final brand X for the title

The 6cyl class I'm not familiar yet with but will be.

More info to come.

Great track surface. Very nostalgic facility. Great people. Great payout and entry fee structures.

Re: Monster Mopar heads....SOUTH - 08/19/16 12:26 AM

Here are some clarifications

Rules for the Mopar Southern Classic cooinside wtih those of Monster Mopar Weekend. NSS Rules also mirror NMCA rules for that particular class.

Mopar vs World Bracket Racing will All Bracket Racing Classes will also have Time Trials and Eliminations both days, Saturday & Sunday, with Mopar vs World in each Bracket Class both days. be ran by bringing all World entries into lanes to run to Finals and all Mopar entries to run to Finals seperately. Winners from the World and Mopar sides of the bracket will then run-off for the Winner & Runner-Up Purse in the Mopar vs World Finals. Runner's up on each side of the bracket receive Semi Purse, and Semi Finalist on each side of the bracket receive Qtrs Purse and Qtr Finalist on each side of the bracket receive the Eights Purse. Track rules apply to Bracket Racing Classes (see below)

Nostalgia Super Stock will consist of 2 seperate races with Qualifying and Eliminations each day for the advertised Purse above.

Super Stock Hemi class will have Qualifying and Eliminations Saturday for the advertised purse above, On Sunday Super Stock Hemis will compete in a High-Roller Hemi Race with $100 Entry and 100% plus $500 added to the pot by the track for the Purse, Qualifying and Eliminations Sunday.

Slant 6 is 1/4 Mile, Dial-in with .5 Full Tree and no Buybacks. Time Trials and Eliminations will run each day for 2 seperate races and 2 seperate Slant-6 Club Points Races.

King of the Street is .4 Pro Tree, Heads-Up, 1/8th Mile; $150 Entry paying $1500-Win, $500-R/U, $150-Semi, $50-Qtrs.

I don't see why not. I have seen many people run the same car in multiple classes at MMW.

Absolutely, if your car fits more than one set of rules you are more than welcome to run multiple classes.

Glad to hear!!! We need to get people talking more about these races. That is the difference betweeen other aspects of drag racing and ours. It seems to get any excitement. We lack the spirit to just create chatter.

I understand there has to be something to look forward to as well.

Absolutely it's part of it.

Gup has to fly from Florida to Philly to grab his rig and drive to Kentucky just to bust Birds a$$ again....That's dedication.

Almost 30 hemi super stockers - Joe Teuton bringing 2 cars.

Re: Monster Mopar heads....SOUTH Sept 23-25th - 09/22/16 05:25 AM

So I was looking at the NMCA rules for Nostalgia Super Stock. Why do they leave out 68 Hemi Road Runners or 70 Challenger 4 speed with a Hemi. We want to play too, but it looks like the sand box is limited to just certain cars. Why make it OK for a 64 to 67 model year B body with a Hemi, but not a 68 models year? Not sure I understand the rule or the rationale.
What class would my cars have to run in? Is there a different super stock class?

What is your car, how fast is it?

Can you post a picture of the car and engine compartment. I bet we can figure this out

If he has Hemi cars can't he just run with the Hemi class?

If not like you said we could figure something out.

Josh what I was referring to was your earlier comment about following NMCA rules.
As for the car in question, it is a 68 Road Runner with a Hemi that runs 6.0 in the 1/8th. I think it has a lot more in it, just needs some TLC on the suspension set up.
I Had looked forward to running Nostalgia Class as those guys look like they have a lot of fun and those cars appeal to me.
I will hopefully be there if everything goes as planned.
thanks for doing this for us in the south.
I just do not understand why NMCA does not allow a 68 B body but they do allow a 67 B body or a 68-69 AMC or a 69 Dart 383 or 440.

Jerry it sounds to me like you would run in the Hemi Super Stock Class rather than the NSS class

I don't have a say in how NMCA runs their races and I just follow that rule set as it seems to be the gold standard.
