New Best mph - 07/11/16 10:35 PM

Ran my best mph yesterday 158.41 but at 8.69 60' were off only 1.257 last year they were 1.241 added bigger cam 1200 cfm carb bigger headers now getting too much wheel speed. smile
I'll try working with it again after the 10.90 thing is done this year.

what is your motor combo? Trans, weight? Fast up up

Re: New Best mph - 07/12/16 04:48 AM

B1 original heads, Indy low deck aluminum block, 540 CI
power glide trans, 2810 lbs.
So many times I still wish I had the 727 trans but for throttle stop racing it works good.
The 500 CI ran 8.69 with the 727 once in super air but only 8.90's after switching to the 2 speed.

Just throwing this out there but if you lost that much ET with that engine combo (and weight) by going to a powerglide you need a different converter.

Re: New Best mph - 07/12/16 06:43 AM

I have tried 4 different convertors in there it is what it is the B1 don't like the 1-2 gear change power band it's so narrow 6400-7400
That may apply to the Chevy crowd too talked to a fast chevy running 8.3's he went back to his 3 speed he said the 2 speed slowed him down .18-.20
Right now I shift at 7400 falls back to 6500 goes through at 7550
I don't see much there to be had.
With the 3 speed it would fall back 900 rpm twice.
It's in 1st for 2.45 seconds and high for 6.24 shifts at 89 mph then has to back half in one gear from 89-158 that's asking a lot for it to be happy.
Don't know why people say the 2 speed is faster than a 3 speed
Why don't pro stock run a 2 speed?
Just a question we should take a poll and find out who went faster with a 2 speed. And if they are I have lot's to learn

The power glide has it's place they are the only good choice for throttle stop racing and a deadly bracket car. Top sportsman not so much if the want to be the higher qualifier
But again it's a fast bracket race and the car that can run the number will have more wins than #1 qualifier

If you are just as fast with a glide as you are with a three speed, you may have a tractor motor...ask me how I know...

Super Street racers are a sick bunch. Good grief...some days I miss it so much!

Congrats, that thing is flying!
