Stroker fuel pump question - 06/29/16 01:59 AM
My brother is running a 414 small block. It has approx 12 to 1 compression ratio, ported j heads with 2.08 valves, and a .508- 292* comp cam. He was running 1/8 mile in his truck and it lays over. I know it's the fuel pump ( he's running a factory type block pump), my question is... Is there a block pump made that can keep up? Thank you guys.

Get rid of the in tank screen on the pickup tube and add an inline filter. Holley and Carter have always made good mechanical pumps.

plumb a can of fuel to the pump inlet & repeat to see if it is a pump issue or problem in the line rearward including the sock as mentioned. I'm assuming the line from pump to carb is adequate dia & has a high enough capacity filter?

Thank you guys. We will be checking it out. I watched it nose down in high gear. So I know it's starvation of some kind.

Get a carter mechanical race pump. I ran a 6.29 @ 109 in the 1/8 with one.
