What cam bearings for my 400 block ?

One of our suppliers in england has the Clevite BYSH876S, will these be ok for my stroker ?

I don't know about those, but I just bought king cs533hp cam bearings for my 400 block.

I think that is the standard replacement cam bearing. I don't know of any problems with it? Maybe some of the engine building pros will post their thoughts.

I think that should be "B-1 SH876S", the B-1 is the bearing Material, "B-1 Steel backed tin or lead base conventional babbitt
(nominal .020” thickness)".
The Clevite Performance cam bearings use "B-2 Steel backed tin or lead base with a Micro-Babbitt
lining (nominal .006” thickness)", park #SH2152S.

I have been using the Dura-Bond PDP-17 cam bearings.

I do recall having fitment issues with some King cam bearings, but I don't recall if the issue was the bearing or the cam?
We installed the cam bearings and the cam would not fit, ended up removing the cam bearings and one would not fit over the cam journal (uninstalled from the block?) Like I said, not sure if it was the cam, bearing, or maybe a wrong marked bearing (it fit the block OK, and I think the part # was correct too?)

What type of cam , what spring pressures ?

Not sure yet, either big solid cam, around 280 at .050 .650 lift, or if money allows similar spec roller, comp will be around 13.5.1.

i have been told that most big and small block mopars have issues fitting the cam after bearing replacement.

If housing bores in the block are correct size any bearing will do fine--some of the Clevites are not a one piece but are "joined" together strips The very best out there are the PDP-17 by Durabond--they are harder than std units and are finished much better--we have had great luck with them over the years the standard and cheaper Durabond PD-17 also works very well but seeing as how your sources are limited I would take what you can get and go with it

In general the cam bearing does not have very high loads. Standard replacement bearings should be fine.

The trick is in installation and adjustment. Cam bearing bores do not always line up just so and the cam may want to bind. They can be line honed, or a used cam with grooves cut in the journals can be used to line them up after install or skillful use of a bearing knife per preference and experience of the builder.

I will buy the PDP -17 from Mancini, thanks for your replies.
