Tire question when running M/T 14 x 32 radial slicks ?

My brother just bought a set of 14 x 32 M/T radial slicks and he told me when he tried to screw it to the rim the screws would not go in. I told him I dont use screws on my 30 x 9 Hoosier radial slicks and he is running them tubeless as I do. So he ran the car tonight and said it hooked so hard it just about dragged the bumper. But he said the tires moved about 6 inches on that one pass ? My question is that what are you guys doing when running the 14 x 32 size radial slicks tubeless as I hear alot of guys say they run them tubeless without screws ? I actually never checked to see if my 30 x 9 tires move on the rim. His car weighs about 3500 lbs and runs low 10's with a 9.96 best. He runs aluminum wheels and I use steel wheels so I dont know if the tires may slip more on aluminum wheels then steel wheels.
So I was wondering if anyone else has noticed their tires moving that much if they run a tubeless radial slick without screws and why the screws dont want to go into the M/T radial slicks ? Thanks , Ron

i use to screw my slicks to the rim but nowdays i don't bother. i've noticed on the first day out, they move quite a bit, but when i've swapped sides for the next meeting they never even get close to 1/3 of the way back to the starting point. In fact they never make it back before the slick is replaced. i'm doing 1.28- 1.31 60's. tell your brother not to worry & carry on driving like he stole it.

I use permatex hytack on the bead with radials .
No screws in radials

I use a 1/8" drill bit and put a piece of steel tubing over it as a guide to limit the drill bit from not coming out the other side of the bead. Just drill deep enough to create a pilot hole between the two steel bands in the bead. You can leave enough drill bit out passed the tubing the same length as the screw threads.

Ron..what was his tire pressure.. most guys
running radials have enough pressure to seat
the tire to the rims.. glue will work if the
pressure is low.. most radial guys say.. no screws

I think he had about 16 to 20 in them as I told him I like 16 to 18 psi in mine. But we always put about 35 to 40 in them first to seat the beads. He has always run bias slicks and screwed them to the rim. I told him I dont have my radials screwed to my rims and many say they dont screw them so he did not. He did say he actually tried to put screws in them and that these M/T 14 x 32 radial slicks just kept pushing the screws back out and they would not go in anyway. He was mainly concerned with how the tire seemed to move almost 6 inches on the one pass he put on them the other day. Course the car hooked great and did a big wheelstand. Ron

MT say NO screws for radials . Race pressure will be trial and error but like yours higher rather than lower - 16/22psi
most I have read with high hp cars are like Rebel turn first couple of times then they set
