Roll Cage install in Duster

Roll Cage install in Duster - 02/03/09 08:47 PM

Just removed the 6 point bar from my Duster.
Will be having a welder install in a 12 point cage. In the next couple of weeks.

Question is how weld install hoop and struts to the main bar and weld all the way around bars when the bar needs to be very tight to roof for adequate headroom.

Is thier a preferred method ? Holes in floor to drop hoop down for welding ?

Tilting bar forward for welding main hoop ?

Any suggestions would be appreciated, welder is highly skilled but does not have experience installing a roll cage.

holes in the floor tack it in place drop the whole assy. down then finish weld, push it up to the roof and slide the 6x6 plates under the cage and weld the plates to the cage. only way i know how to get it that tight.

Take a look at Dizusters roll cage pics(in the archives). It got dropped down to weld. He also sectioned the stock buckets w/different adjusters as he is 6'3" and his head was above the cage. The headliner still fits.
