Vacuum Advance with Hemi Cross Ram

Vacuum Advance with Hemi Cross Ram - 03/21/16 05:24 PM

Anyone use vacuum advance on a gen II hemi cross ram engine? I have the reproduction MP cross ram manifold with removable tops and a pair of 650 cfm Holleys. I wasn't sure where to port the vacuum advance. Should I T together off both carbs? Off one carb? Don't use? The car will see mostly street duty with occasional strip. I have had locked out distributors before on other engines. I am just looking to see if it has been done or could be done.

You dont need to T in both carbs.. the signal
will still be the same.. for a street car the
vac does help on the MPG but you need to curve
the can and the dist to match the engine and
weight of the car for your cruising conditions

Thanks. Somewhere I have a couple of articles on adjusting the can. I've welded and files slots to get the right advance, so no issue there. I am not sure how the vacuum advance can works so that will be new territory for me.

I think there was a series of articles in mopar action magazine that went through in detail about running vacuum advance, centrifical advance,etc... you can probably search their website and find them. I think rick Ehrenberg wrote them. not too long ago.
