X275 Challenger - 02/19/16 05:27 AM

Rob Goss just ran a 4.39 @ 164 in X275 in his Gen 111 Hemi in Georgia. #1 qualifier so far.

That car is bad to the bone, wonder if that Marty Robertson Barracuda is gonna do 275's?

Re: X275 Challenger - 02/19/16 08:40 AM

Was really hoping to see Marty or Bill Houghton but doesn't look good. Also haven't seen the Buick of Chad Henderson that Monte works on. Too bad with $50,100 up for grabs

Someone on FB mentioned that Robertson went 4.17 right off the trailer in Georgia. I think he runs the 315 tire.

Re: X275 Challenger - 02/19/16 04:02 PM

It's hard to tell people that aren't familiar with the class just how impressive this is. He's probably one of the heavier cars in the class, running a unique combo and, to my knowledge, using a filled FACTORY 6.1 block. There are something like 52 cars trying to qualify and I would be surprised if any of the others are using a factory block. He's making more than 2000hp. I wish the corporate folks would make it easier for us racers to source more and better parts because gen III's have incredible potential.

Re: X275 Challenger - 02/19/16 05:31 PM

I think I saw Marty's name on the window of the blue barracuda in RvW. Does he not run his challenger anymore?

Re: X275 Challenger - 02/19/16 05:37 PM

Last I heard Marty had the Challener up sale.

Re: X275 Challenger - 02/19/16 05:56 PM

Rob put the Challenger on a much needed diet.Hes now at the class minimum. He does have a billet block in the works.

Re: X275 Challenger - 02/19/16 06:09 PM

There are two Marty's. Marty Robertson runs the blue Barracuda in RVW on a 315 and Marty Pearcy runs the orange Challenger in X275. Haven't seen Pearcy at SGMP and like Al mentioned I have seen the Challenger advertised for sale.

Re: X275 Challenger - 02/19/16 07:47 PM

PLEASE will someone make a good cast Gen III block already!!!
Posted By: SpareParts

Re: X275 Challenger - 02/19/16 08:26 PM

Apparently the factory does lol

Rumor is Rob has a billed block in the works

Re: X275 Challenger - 02/19/16 09:24 PM

Once the dousches at Mopar get 100 orders paid for the 6.1 blocks, they will get cast. Depressing, but if demand isnt there it isnt there. I guess im luck I have mine already.

Re: X275 Challenger - 02/20/16 03:00 PM

Man that car is running GREAT. Does anyone know what happened on his last pass late last night. There was a small delay as the guy in front of him dumped fluid on the track and I don't know if it wasn't cleaned up right and he spun or if there was another issue. Finally got it hooked up so I can watch it on my TV instead of my dam computer. Mopar guys are looking pretty good.

This race is sold out and the gates are closed to spectators. How many times do you hear this happening at a drag strip.

I am siding with Eric Dillard (owner of PLR) cars spinning are set up for cooler temps. Why change the tune when 1st round elims will be at night and you already have your # from last night. Goss should be A-OK for tonight.

This isn't grudge racing at this race. Small tire racing at its finest.

Re: X275 Challenger - 02/21/16 12:09 AM

I went to Holly Springs a couple years ago to the spring race. Unbelievable atmosphere. I don't how anyone could go to one of the big drag radial races and not leave a fan of 1/8 mile racing. Cars that can cover the 1/8 in four seconds or less at 200 mph are bad a$$ and the guys that wheel them have a wheel barrow load size sack.

Totally different. Grudge racing is bragging about how fast your car is then turning around and asking for a head start. Small tire racing is lining them up and the light flashes. First one to the finish line wins without all the BS of grudge racing

Yep. I wish the guys at my local track were watching, probably dont even know it exists, so they could learn the art of "Track Prep". You need more than a freakin power broom to have a good surface.....

Rob Goss is getting three good blocks made. There will be two cast aluminum blocks and a billet block. Was just talking to him today about them.

It's a done deal, should be out in a few months. They will carry Mopar part numbers and be sold threw Mopar.

There were around 25K watching online during the finals.
I thought that the very few Mopars that were there did well.

No the blocks are cast already for Goss. He is done using stock blocks and won't build another. This factory block had 12 passes on it and is junk. It might be a while before Mopar releases them. I don't know that answer to that. It is also a race block not a recast factory block.
