I was talking to my engine builder today and he said I can not run a conventional oil filter, he said the alcohol will dissolve glue in the filter and contaminate the oil? What filter do you guys run?

Here are a couple of pic of the new bullit for "La Putita" we are almost there!

Ted, I just run a Fram HP-1 and have for many years. Haven't had any issues with them. Are you bringing "La Putita" to MATS?

System One or Oberg(Oberg has a new name that I can't remember) there a heavy duty stainless steel screen remote mounted oil filter that is cleanable and reusable and they are easeir to use and clean than the System One brand. The down side of the Oberg types is you have to mount them remotely and run hoses to and back, more money in other words and there probally more money to start with than the System Ones are Ted, which heads are those, Indy EZ or what?

Ted I'm glad to see you will be going to MATS. I personally have never heard of alky in the oil causing filter problems. If the budget allows it I would say go with the System One just to be safe . How much is the alky going for in your area now?

wix for me since 1997 why would an engine runing alcohol hurt it unless your filtering alcohol with it. if your getting alcohol in your oil you got it too fat and or your rings are shot your oil will actually last longer on alcohol the key is oil temp to evaporate the moisture that accumulates fron oil hitting cold intake cylinder head runners and sweating moisture is also the problem with corrosion in the fuel and induction system if the moisture is controled crossion is not a problem let it get out of hand and everthing will corrode fuel pumps carbs intakes heads cylinders but if you keep your fuel dry use a good top lube and get the engine up to reasonable operating temp 180 to 190 degrees 210 to 220 before shutting it down for the day you will have almost no noticable corrosion and oil will last along time.

Wix here also. If he was talking about fuel filters he is right, you need a stainless steel filtering element, not paper.
