Re: hustlin hoosier, shawanda rematch - 01/15/16 05:56 AM

Any idea what Junior is using for power these days?

I really feel like HH finally has the upper hand... it only took a whole new tin can from a pro builder and 800+ inch motor lol. But I'll be there and I'll watch

I have no idea what our bet was. I vaguely remember anything from before. But if you are asking me if I think you can outrun Junior.........my answer is no.

I'm pulling for Junior on this one, plan to bet with him but I will admit Sanders' new cuda is beautiful. Should be a blast!

Seems like alot of these races are over before they are even begun. Once you let someone start talking you out of equipment your setup is set to run with (wheelie bars ect).

I'm a b body guy myself. Thanks for posting up about this. If we were closer it would be a fun race to watch in person.

Are both cars N/A?

HH may just surprise more then a few people........ popcorn

I am also a Shawanda fan but this time may be a different game shruggy

Re: hustlin hoosier, shawanda rematch - 01/18/16 08:02 AM

So we have a stock suspension, small tire, 62 Dodge, that ain't real light.............against a tube chassis, big tire car, with a monster motor. I'm still rollin with the early B-body and have not even seen a pic of the new HH.

As to who is what, N/A or whatever.........it's a grudge race. You run em like they sit, unless "stips" are laid out before the race and that would between the drivers.

So are both cars N/A?

Re: hustlin hoosier, shawanda rematch - 01/18/16 09:30 AM

So should I assume that both of these cars are local grude race cars from back east or down south somewhere or are they from the northeast? I had to back that tape up several times to see that the other car was a 1967/69 Cuda fastback. Are either of these cars considered "street racers" work If so how much money is bet by the owners? work
Which car is which confused

Re: hustlin hoosier, shawanda rematch - 01/18/16 03:04 PM

H&H is back half, stock front on 29.5 x 10.5 non w and always has been except 1 weekend. The car sits NA. The car will have either hemi 99 that is 709 or a hemi 99 that's is 820. There is a lot of racing between now and june, depends which engine is in the car. WE fit all of the local shoot out rules and NMCA street outlaw.

Re: hustlin hoosier, shawanda rematch - 01/18/16 06:08 PM

Hustlin Hoosier is a SS/AA car that he bought from a chassis shop and is installing his goodwin hemi 99 motors. With the smaller hemi 99 it went 4.90s at monster mopar. Shawanda is a stock suspension home built car with a convential head BBM in it. He is also a grudge racer so I will leave the rest I know off of the internet. But my money would be on Streetking.
Posted By: Monte_Smith

Re: hustlin hoosier, shawanda rematch - 01/18/16 06:45 PM

Shawanda is a grudge car............he or anyone who knows anything about it, is not going to tell you squat about how it sits, the motor, the weight, what it runs, or anything else.

The HH is seen quite a bit at NMCA and other races and as seen here, he freely gives details about what he has.

Re: hustlin hoosier, shawanda rematch - 01/18/16 07:06 PM

The best thing about this race is all the attention it will bring to mopar racers for the next few months. Both cars are Bad azz contenders in any event they show up for. This will be fun fodder for the internet followers, thanks to both of them for the entertainment for this winter.

Re: hustlin hoosier, shawanda rematch - 01/19/16 12:00 AM

I crack up when I read how Shawanda is a "poor old home built stock suspension" etc. That car is bad to the bone and those involved are as sharp as they come. I don't know how much money is invested but there's plenty of expertise there. I'm sure the budget is far less than their opponent. And I'll bet that doesn't phase them in the least.

Our car is about as cheap as they come, the body and cage were left at the chassis shop and not picked up, we paid very little for it. The engine was built at a shop in Indy and there were financial problems and it sat in the shop for over 5 years before we purchased it. We thru it together with a bunch of our leftover parts from our NSS car. And it is not a Goodwin motor, we are not big Hp. We make 1328 hp, On the first outing the car went 5.02 the first hit, by the end of the weekend it had gone 4.87 @ 145. It is much faster now.
Posted By: streetking

Re: hustlin hoosier, shawanda rematch - 01/19/16 02:10 AM

1328 hp ? That's about 400 down from last seasons claims....Would you be intersted in buying Shawanda? She would be the cheapest car in the stable

WE hoped for more never got it , the new motor is 1550.On the same dyno.

Thanks for the kind words but Shawanda really is a homebuilt, leaf spring suspension , 1962 springs to be exact, dreamed up, funded,100% built, wired , tuned and driven all by the same one dumb hillbilly, and that hillbilly is me...

Re: hustlin hoosier, shawanda rematch - 01/19/16 04:52 AM

The new one is the last new motor Rick Jones had Kaase build for IHRA Prostock. It was built in 2006. Since then the rods have been shortened .100" and Art Hodges raced it as NHRA promod. We are going to leave the comp out of it. It makes 1550 on motor, around 1700 if we lengthen the rods. We bought the motor fresh from Kaase. We hope to pick up a few tenths this year, we went 4.80 like a bracket car last year, with 60' times around 1.10, a bad 60 was 1.14. By June the small motor will be back in the car. The Kaase motor had 2 kits on it when we bought.

Such is the norm w/ most grudge racing. A whole lot of talk, not much racing. One stupid stipulation can bring it all to a halt.
