Building a 1996 Magnum 360 ? about pistons

Does anyone have any feedback on Icon forged pistons. I am looking at a rotating assy from Jegs that offers Icon pistons. I am curious are they as good as Mahle or Probe? I noticed they cost as much as Mahle does. Is there a better set I should be looking for? I am putting the motor into a 3400 pound Dakota for street/strip use. The street use is driving it to the track.

I'm running them in my 408. The engine has been together for over 3 years now and no problems at all.
I say go with them.

Hard to beat the mahle, they are much nicer (hard anodized, very light weight because of the struted design on the bottom side much like a formula 1 or nascar piston)than icon and come with rings.

I prefer the wiseco pistons, i had great success with SRP pistons but i started to use more nitrous than they could handle. I know wiseco offersd a shelf piston in the better 2618 material and I believe they come hard coated. My custom wiseco pistons are SWEET!! and are gas ported and hard coated.

Mahle. then Icon, then Probe is how I would rank them. Icon pistons are the forged variety of United Engine and Machine's Silv-o-lite/Keith Black/Icon lineup.

If you were looking for a really special piston you'd not be looking for a kit anyhow. I don't believe the block can take what an Icon piston can. (or a JE/SRP or Ross or Wiseco/ProTru or CP or RaceTech) or a Speed-Pro for that matter.

There was a time when the only forged pistons one could find were TRWs or Arias or Venolia or ForgedTrue, maybe a couple4 others, but they didn't have complete product lines and cost a fortune, except the TRWs. So you'd buy a TRW if it was available for your engine and you could possibly send them to a guy who'd machine some weight out of them. The idea of a lightweight forging available in all sorts of configurations off the shelf was pie-in-the-sky, we never believed it was possible.

I know for 100% fact that stock magnum block could handle what a custom piston would. I'm at 815whp on factory stock block and still kicking it.

Everybody has there preference. I like CP, but Mahle, etc are all good. Don't waste your money on gas ports for a street driver. They will be plugged with carbon in just a few hundred miles.

Still think it is amazing slammedR/T is putting that amount of power through a stock magnum block and it lives!

The bottom end is a lot like a T/A block on the magnum, certainly can take more than a normal LA block.
