I did that mix match years ago i think i used a ford bronco u-joint. Any way what i did was went to napa and got a old drive train book and matched the size. Good luck i know there's something out there.

I did get two napa u joints ,dont have part numbers in front of me

for some reason they only had C clips on one side on the joints

I will see if I could mix the two sets up to make it work

just woundering if I am missing something

C clips on the driveshaft side but not on the pinoin side and the cups whould not hold ,and fall out

I bought a used chunk one time that had a yoke that had tabs on it to hold the caps on,somebody told it was prob a Ford. I know the Mopar joint I had wouldn't work. Had to change it out. I don't know for sure that it was Ford.

Ari I have one of those joints. I also have the larger style yoke and you can put the 7290 joint in the shaft. Call me 516 3817622. Later mark!

Re: U joint question - 01/26/09 03:20 PM

there is a small u-joint,a big u-joint,and a bigger u-joint,that is like a ford yoke...look it up for a 67 polara 440HP/426 hemi..kinda odd ball...the common one is a small to a large mopar joint like in trucks...the odd ball is 3 5/8"

I am running a conversion joint small on one side an 3 5/8" on the big side

caps are bigger round and the yoke has tabs to hold the big side caps in

measure the yoke inside tab to inside tab to get the right one

crosses over to the mopar/ford u-joint,caps have no grooves for c clips on the big side

got it at napa,I will get the # off the box later for ya

heres the one I got for the small to large 3 5/8"

yoke that was on a 67 742 8 3/4 3.23 742 pinion with a course 10 spline mopar yoke...looks like a ford yoke with no clips just tabs and straps

napa#240-0457

napa brand made in usa
