Trans temp adapter kit

I would like to run my trans temp gauge into the drain pan plug. I see Derale has a kit and I think the pan has to be removed to get their system to work. Is there another way to accomplish this or another fitting from someone else I am overlooking? Thanks guys!

I run mine in my trans cooler. That way I can see the fluid temp coming from the converter. Has taught me how long is "too long" to be on the brake.

If you have no drain plug in your pan.... yes the pan has to be removed. A slick way I've seen to do this is to tack weld a castle nut in the pan and just use a newer style oil pan drain plug that threads into it. This allows nearly all the fluid to drain out.

The line toward the front of the trans is the "hot" line before it goes to the cooler. if you are wanting to know how bad you're beating up on your fluid from a temp standpoint..... that's the place to go.

I put a electrical trans. temperature guage in my 1998 Ram 2500 CTD in the trans pan, I had a fitting welded into the pan. I join the CTD group later and saw that they recommend installing the temp. senders in the front servo housing, it has a 1/8 NPT plug in it for ckecking pressures so I used it I didn't see any differences in the temps between the left front corner of the trans. pan to that location so I would do that again now instead of paying someone to weld another fitting into the trans pan IHTHs
I know racers that make up a manifold in the tranny cooler lines so tey can see what the fluid temps. are coming out of the converter before the coolers, the tans pickup is in the pan so I don't worry so much about the converter fluid temps as the tranny doesn't use that fluid until it is back in the pan after the cooler
