This whole site has become very strange lately. Some posts will run on ad on and on and some go away for no reason? Other sites I go to seem to mention this when referring to Moparts also. Personally I think something has to change. But what do I know,I'll just go to the other sites, right? I'm a nobody anyhow.

Lots of good info here. Use to be a LOT more! I think some members have taken a lot of their knowledge elsewhere.

Take the time to just look at your own posts and you will find the post that you are missing. They are still hanging out on page 4.

Posts will get locked when they are just going nowhere but almost never get deleted. Take the time to look before you complain

Re: Disapearing Posts - 01/25/09 03:54 PM

I figured a few things out when I was off with my knee surgery.

I had plenty of time to get on Moparts several times a day.

A lot of how well your post does has to do with the title and how well you present your post in the title. Lame title and many will skip over it.

I can't remember what was the best time to post but a lot of post do better relating to the time of day they are posted. Get up at 5A and post. All the boring posters that show up at night and push yours to the second page are sleep LOL.

I get reply happy sometimes like when I was off with my knee. I replied to everything. Not as bad as the 20 people who will just reply to say they agree and flash a pic of their car on every post they can. I have to stop myself sometimes just to give someone else a chance. Then I get the Where have you Been? PM's.

Some post about venders or shops are just not going to last. Especially if everyone likes them because members are gonna think it was your fault because they like the vendor. In other words some people are bullit proof and no matter how many people they screw over few will listen. My beef is with vendors that badmouth stuff members have for sale on here just to feed their own greed.

Sometimes if your post is getting no attention and you feel it should you just have to simply reply with a bump to make the post first page again. Some may feel you have an ego problem. Meaning your post sucks and you are relentless to keep it on the front page when it should be on page 5 because it sucks. So that is the chance you take using this method. Then again like I mentioned earlier. The "look at my new valve cover" posts and "this peice of chrome I just shined up" posts just pushed yours to second page.

One clue is look at the number of views and compare to other post started at the same time. If that number is down it is because your title was week. If it has tons of views and few replies your post is week.

Then no matter what the mods or Tom says some post get deleted. Many of these post are popular but you peed in the sand box. This is a good little hint when this happens tame it down the next time. I got caught up in one of these deals when a cousin got screwed over. Before I knew anything about it their truck was trashed and they were charged a big bill. I posted a good ole ugly bashing post and called the guy out by name. The guy called my cus and threatened to take legal action against them if I didn't shut up. I replied to my post with my address and phone number. Tom took the post out of the category but after all he contacted me then my cousin and tried to right the whole deal as he had some kinda connection with the guy who screwed them over.

Tom is a good guy for this along with the fact that without him we wouldn't have this sandbox to play in. I won't mention the jerk in FL's name as I spent a lot of time typing this reply and don't want it deleted or moved.LOL

Hope these tips help

Leon
