decode my timeslip - 09/28/15 04:00 AM

So I have been chasing the 10's for years and finally did it!This past Wednesday I went a 10.66 at 124MPH. I think the combo has more in it. I just have to figure it out.
The car is a 72 Dart with a 500" low deck. Indy SR. Solid cam 650ish, 275@50. compression is around 13.5:1. 727 with an 8" converter flashing at 5400. rear gears are 4.33. I'm not sure if that converter is flashing too high. That is what the company recommended.

I also don't have a clue on how to post pics on this site. Not sure if you will be able to view this or not.

Thanks in advance.

You can compare it to my 10.76 timeslip here from my 63. But I think you have more potential in your car as I am 10.6 comp with less cam and a 9.5 conveter in my pump gas 493. You should be able to tune more out of yours. I am running 4.30's with a 30 x 9 tire. Good luck. Ron

Looks acceptable up to the 1/8,,,,appears lazy from the 1/8 to the 1/4. Might need more fuel or fuel system upgrades.

Like said, a little laid back in the 1/8 zone.
Carb size? shooters? Jets?

Re: decode my timeslip - 09/28/15 06:57 PM

I would work on the 60 ft. times, try different stall speeds, air pressures, shock settings and so on up twocents As far as the 1/4 MPH have you tried jetting the carb. up fat enough to slow the MPH down? If not try that, if you can't jet it fat enough to slow the MPH down in the 1/4you need to fix the fuel delivery system scope Let us know what you do and the results work BTW, are your SR 440 port or Max Wedge size? If 440 the porting them to the M.W. size will help also, more air and fuel equals more power thumbs

Re: decode my timeslip - 09/29/15 12:56 AM

Thanks for all the responses. It really helps! My intake is a 4150 M1 Single plane with a 1000CFM Demon RS on it. Not sure on the jets and squirters. I do know that my AFR is around 11-12:1 from the wideband. I really wanted to confirm that the car had some more in it. It seemed like it did. Now I just have to sort it out.

The heads don't have max wedge ports yet.

Thanks again

Your 60 ft. should be a lot better. If you get it better you would pick up. My full interior 71 Demon with a stock stroke 360 with ported stock heads with the same gears had a 1.49 60 ft. and ran a best of 6.99 in the 1/8.

At 11-12 on AFR your fat... try leaning it down
EDIT
watch the MPH to get the max MPH when jetting... ET
is the chassis

Re: decode my timeslip - 09/29/15 03:03 AM

I didn't have max ports on my stage VI heads, but switching from a 4150 intake and holley 850 to a 4500 M1 and a Carb Shop 1050 Dominator netted me nearly 4mph. I was running the Ultradyne NF69 mech cam .640 lift and had my shift light set at 5800. I always had good 1/8th mile times, but it seemed A LOT of cars would drive around me on the top end. That changed with the intake/carb swap. It increased airflow so much I had to drop from a 4.56 gear down to a 4.10 to manage the rpms...... and it went quicker yet with the 4.10.

Re: decode my timeslip - 10/01/15 03:45 AM

i have a duster with me in it it is 3120lb or so.
i have ported heads though with a 262/265 about 640 lift solid m1 intake and dominator around 13.5 compression aside from the porting we should be able to compare i am only 440 cid i shift at 6700 and go through about that. i am 4.30 gears with 30x10.5 slicks.you are 500 and a cam with more duration. mine is @ 110 centerline.
my converter is a 9" lupo in around 5400 to 5600 flash. 60ft is 1.44 to 1.46

i am around 105 in the 1/8 and 130 in the 1/4 lower 10.20s to teens at numidia pa. really cold air at cecil md 9.89 @134. with 1.39 60ft.

i shoot for 13.3 to 1 on my wego3 wide band afr datalogger.
get a handle on your real afr and if you are in the 11s or low 12 i would say there is room to go faster.

one thing i will say is the afr logger will tell you a lot on what the carb is doing. my carb has issues going leaner around 6300 and then almost 1 point richer at 7000.so reading a plug on top end would make the middle leaner. (i am working on that issue)
