Anyone running a lunati voodoo 704 cam (276/284)? - 09/12/15 10:48 PM

Originally I was going to use a Bob K Six Pack cam for my new 440, but I'm fearful the six pack cam, while a proven cam, may be a bit mild for me.
I'm looking at the Lunati Voodoo 10230704 cam which is 276/284 advertised and 234/242 @.050 with .513/.533 lift. I'm considering a 1.6 ratio rocker to increase lift a bit as my heads flow well above .500 lift.
Just wondering how others like or dislike the cam. I'm running sidewinder heads with a nice bowl blend, six pack set up, 1 7/8" headers, 4speed, 4.10 gears.

I run that cam for 4 years in my Eddy headed 383 and a T/A vert whit 3800 stall and 3.91 in the rear in a stock E-body. And i like it, good street manners IMO and has enough vacuum for my stock P/D.

Thanks for your response Carter. I'm just looking for newer tech cam that makes good power from 2500-6000 that is compatible with a 4speed on the street.

Anyone else? Other flat tappet cam suggestions?

With a 4-speed you could go w/more duration if you wanted to.......

Is this a rule of thumb?

Im really on the fence about a bigger cam. Everyone wants to make a bunch of power, but its important to me that this car is street friendly and drivable with the 4 speed.

Thanks

I would probably lean towards the shorter duration. I ran the comp cam 305 duration cam in 2 4 speed GTXs with a 3.54 gear and I wasn't happy with the low speed performance. I want to try the shorter duration cam like you mentioned.

Street friendly is different for different people I guess and if that`s the case then you could go w/less and give up a bit of power for better street ability if that`s what you desire......I like both but understand your needs...... thumbs

Go with a wider LSA to get a broader torque curve... like
a 112.. with a stick you can change the rpm you leave the
street light or change gears in the rear... I myself dont
like the wide LSA(I had one in my W-9) because you will
loose some bottom end torque.. and it doesnt have the sound
that I like... but with the cubes it should cover up the
low end loss
EDIT
Just put it in at 108 or less
