Tube to AN adapter?

Does anyone make a 1/2" tube (compression) to 10AN adapter fitting?


While my car is apart I'm looking at moving my regulator from the inner fender to a bracket that mounts to the carb base. Currently it has 8AN out of the electric pump to 1/2" aluminum line, back to 8AN through a bulk head fitting, to the regulator and to the carb.

I measured the ID of the 8AN fittings on the hose and they measure less then 3/8". I also measured the fittings on my 10AN lines and they measure almost 1/2". It seems pointless to have 1/2" hard line when the fittings choke it to less than 3/8", about a 25% loss of area.

If there is a fitting I'll remove all the 8AN and replace it with 10, except for the two lines that feed the carb from the regulator.

I used a 25 ft. coil of soft drawn 1/2 inch aluminum tubing from a big box store with #8 AN female tubing nuts on both ends and #8 male fittings out of the pump and into the fuel filter mounted onto the fuel regulator mounted in front of the motor on the motor plate My new race car will have #12 AN out of the fuel cell to the pump and #10 AN to the front That motor will make, hopefully, over 900 HP on E85 BTW, what brand of AN fittings are you using? Sorry for not being able to answer your question on that fitting

All the fittings and an line are Earls. I'm looking to make 650 or so hp with the new engine.

My Duster motor made 727 HP on pump gas the last time it was on a engine dyno, that combination with the 1/2 inch fuel line ran 9.993 ET in the 1/4 mile through the complete 3 inch exhaust system with me in the car weighing 3450 lbs In all truthfulness, buiding it bigger (fuel system, ignition systems,exhaust systems and suspension systems) than you need is a good thing, especially when we normally hop it up more later

If you want to connect -10 hose to 1/2 tubing, I would use a -8 sleeve and nut assembly on the line, Aeroquip nos. FCM3676 and FCM3672. Couple that with a FCM2163 union reducer and attach your -10 hose end to that. You'll have to flare the tubing after sliding the parts on. I wouldn't use a compression fitting on fuel or soft aluminum tubing.

I can't think of anywhere I'd use a compression fitting on a car !!

Especially a race car.

Also it's not a good idea to mount the regulator directly to the motor because of vibration. The inner fender is a much better location because it isolates it from vibration better. Plus it stays cooler there also, IMO.
