Another guess HP Low Buck 400 - 06/27/15 08:45 PM

What do you guys think of a stock '77 400 short block, with home ported stock valve closed chamber heads, with the intake ports are opened up at the pushrod pinch and guides streamlined. An EX284 Comp Cam with a M1 intake and 850 carb. and I am going to make a set of 1 7/8" to 2" step headers. This is all going into a 2800lb. 66 Dart convertible with a 3.91 gear. This is just to get the car running and sorted out. Just curious about hp and what et to expect. Thanks

It depends on CR... what have you got with those close chamber heads? I'll guess 340 is if compression is in the 8's and 400 if it is the 9's.

No idea on ET.

Hope I am low!

Stock 77 shortblock equals low compression, the closed chamber heads aren't that much different. Sounds like porting won't get past the 250cfm range. I'm thinking 420 hp and car into the high 11s. Just my guess.

Thanks, I kind of guessed it should go in the 11s I just wanted to hear it from someone else. Its just a motor I put together with what I had to get it running and driving. I just don't want to be want it to be a pig. I'll try to get some pictures loaded.
