Monroe #32128 police shock with SS springs?

Anyone use this shock? I have a 71 demon with SS springs and KYB's the car sits at rest with 17.5" eyelet to eyelet. These Monroe shocks show 15.6 compressed, extended at 26.2 and travel at 10.6. the stock clamps are on the springs and it is mostly a street car. The correct 71 demon Monroe shock has a CL of 14.1 EL of 23.3 and travel of 9.2. almost seems like i should just go for the stock shock since i don't have rear clamps removed and the CL of 14.1 is a little better.

Using the stock shocks on my Demon with S/S springs didn't work...they were too short. I went with station wagon shocks and now use Rancho 9-ways also for a B-body application.

It seems to me you could use half ton truck shocks, if you check the specs they should be two inches longer.


It has been over 25 years so I can't say what brand they are but the Volare has truck shocks and SS springs with the rear clamps removed, it runs 1.41 - 1.43 60 ft times.

I feel the car is at it's limit with this setup, no room for a bigger tire (30/10.5), car hook's or spins the tires in 2nd.

Did you have the rear half of the springs unclamped? My car doesn't seem to have a lot of movement it kind of just plants and goes with the drag radials. It pulls a 1.66 60'.

On a street car that's cutting it pretty close.

I use the MP longer extending shocks. And they were used given to me by the late great Randy (Labrat). They seem to work fine for me as my best 60 on stock suspension with just the SS springs and Comp 90/10's up front is a 1.50 running 10.70's at 3700 lbs. Its just a street car but it puts a smile on my face. Ron

No,I didn't have them unclamped. I could tell they were too short as the springs were trying to wind up when the shock hit their full extension( Had someone take video)so I went with a old set of Atlas shocks for a station wagon and they worked great and now I have the Rancho's for some adjustability.

Whats the car used for... since you know the open
and closed length.. order up some decent shocks
that give you some adjustment

Mostly spirited street driving, visit the D strip once or twice a year.
