mopar big block and big boost combos - 06/07/15 03:47 AM

I am starting to work on my boosted 540 again and was looking for a little motivation and experience. Lets hear your combos even if they have been up before. How much boost? what type of induction? what fuel? engine specs? car specs and et if you want to share that.

my build again is an indy low deck block half filled bored to 4.505
oliver maxx rods, callies 4.25 crank, custom diamond pistons
b1 original heads with titanium intake valves and inconnel exhaust valves.
bullet cam, plan to run t and d 1.8 individual shaft rockers, still need to get springs spec'd.
alcohol dominator by c&s
precision 114 turbo with 1.5 housing
plan to run 30 or so pounds of boost and see what it will make.

lets hear yours the good bad and the ugly

thanks

It's you and me, that's it. You seen my junk, I'm iron indy heads and a 106mm.

Others have done it, they just moved on.
Search the "HAZE"
It's not been out this Century, but was fast when dinosaurs were farting hi test.

Don't know about big boost, but I'm building a RB with twin 72mm turbos. They should b egood for about 25 psi. Still waiting for the pistons... but after that it will go together and most likely driven this summer. It's based on an Indy RB block, 4.25" x 4.5", CR about 8.8:1, air to air intercooler, roller cam with 270+ at .050", FBS heads and a sheetmetal intake. Here is a couple of pics of the intake being built.

Sorry Jyrki, forgot about you.
Did you get into the wall with the turbo car?
Was looking through the pics of your stuff and looked like the right side had some wall rash.

I'm in the middle of a motor swap. I'll be out as soon as I get Pistons from J&E. I let my local machine shop order pistons and rods, rods are here. Pistons suppose to been ordered 6 weeks ago.

This pass made me stop running the car till I get the new motor built. Don't want to hurt the stock block.

Those heads should make some steam. Intake looks cool, that aluminum moves around a lot when you're building something so complex, doesn't it?
Both of these cars are awesome. They show how much you can do when you go outside the box.
I wish "the haze" would be resurrected.

Hey guys thanks for the replys. Yeah there seem to be few around. I have seen the haze pretty sweet car. I believe he ran a stock block too?
Fastmop- do you run a low deck? And how much boost?
Jyrki- that looks like an awesome build. Really different from the normal. You plan to drive it on the street?

Make sure you mock up those TD's before you assemble...at 1.8 ratio, the pushrod will be into the head heavily!

I'm a 440 block stroker. Set for 30 psi at 1.5 seconds from launch.
I had to peddle in the Vid. Started spinning on the shift.

What's done to the block? Filled with a girdle? What ever happens to Josh Kings Duster?
The Avenger is sweet.

Haze has an indy block.
Jyrkis car is mind blowing in every aspect.
The avenger is fast as _____ now, wait till it's all sorted out.
Where are you running that car FastmOp? I'd like to see it in person one of these days.

Don't forget Dean's car (Go Green). Was a KB block, Predator heads, BS3 alky fueled. I think it was about 526 cubes. He got tired of taking a pocket knife to a gunfight-it now has a BAE hemi. It was still a killer when it was a "wedge"

Not a turbo, but Bigtime Bob is running a 540 with a F2 IIRC

Yeah those other two combos are good example too. Nice to see them. Wow 30 lbs on that block is impressive. How many passes on that combo? The avenger made a nice pass in that video

Brian- the heads have been clearance as much as possible. I will definitely mock the rockers up. I am thinking I will need an offset lifter not sure what my options are? I plan to pushrod oil and oil each lifter individually. Also I want to run 7/16 pushrods but I'm not sure if that's gonna work out. Most likely on the exhaust but I would like to have them on the I take side too if posaible

Re: mopar big block and big boost combos - 06/10/15 10:17 PM

Im in the process of converting my little street strip valiant over from a e85 turbo slant that i was pushing 20 pounds of boost.
New combo will consist of a 470 low deck
3.75 stroke crank regrind to 3.915 stroke 2.2 chevy rods size RB mains
BCR billet main caps and gridle setup
Callies ultra h beam 5.535 rods
No pistons yet!!!
Bullet billet roller cam
440-1 heads no port work
Harland Sharp 1.6 rockers
Low deck indy intake 4150 flange
I just did a partial fill on the block and letting it set for a couple more weeks before i take the block in for final machine work
I havent decided what direction im going with a transmission yet im kind of leaning toward a powerglide but that decision isnt set in stone.. The car has all the best for a boosted car so there will only need some minor changes but im looking to have the car ready for next year. I just received most of my bends and flanges for my headers but thats a long process building a set of headers.
Not sure where it will end up with a boost number only time will tell
Ill keep everyone updated
Aaron

I sell the Isky red zones, they have an offset....180 or .210 I believe.

Here's mine as of our last race. Since the crash we are replacing the 136 P/Charger to twin 88 Precision turbos. After using P/charger's best stuff for 3 years it's apparent that turbos just make more steam and that's the name of the game in Outlaw 10.5 racing.
