H Beam Rods - 06/01/15 05:11 PM

Interesting side by side of a Scat H Beam vs an Offshore H Beam that I can get. Its hard to spot in the images but the Scat is 100 grams heavier.

Damn.. look at the bevel they use for the radius
on the crank.. that looks big... then also. the area
around the crank.. one has a much larger wall.. I bought
4 sets of Eagle H-beams YEARS ago when they first came out
because they looked damn good back then... I'm still using
them on all my builds

They were both forged in China.

There is weight that adds strength, and weight that adds weight.........

I will post some more pics as soon as I can. I do have an Eagle rod laying around that I could weigh just for giggles.

Which is which?

The top and left rod has much smoother transition fillets
and looks like it would more easily transfer forces to the beam.

Are the pictures of the same side of each rod? i.e. the side with the bevel to clear crank journal radius.

It looks like one has larger radii from the ends to the beam, and different length bolts.

Mr. Chevy, can you post the big and small end weights?

Bottom one doesnt have the clamping strength of the top one in the cap area. That smooth casting from the radius to the edge is the touching point. Also one allows oil to escape to the edges of the rod for a nice thin layer of oil to prevent side wear.

One clearly has much more detail in finish than the other. Also the pin end the bottom one looks narrow and missing the strength on the edge where the beam finishes up into the pin area.

Budget build sure 450 bucks the bottom will work.

top one will handle more abuse longer. Jmho
