Pretty vague on your budget, but edelbrocks are about the cheapest aluminum small block head out there.

Haven't set a dollar amount.I want the best bang for the buck.Would like a set of aluminum for the weight savings if the price was right.Never had a small block always run bigblocks.

I used to run a rear engine dragster with a stock 360 short block with W5 heads on Methonol it ran 8.50 at 150 + at about 4500DA. I still have the engine and the injection.

id run the edelbrock heads with closed chamber (non 340 chamber)
get them ported use the kb hypereutectic pistons that fit the closed chamber and make sure you have valve clearance. Put in the proper ring gap. run a solid or roller cam. it will make plenty of power and the rail will fly.

Re: Budget 360 build - 03/31/15 02:27 PM

I have shady dell ported edelbrock heads on my 360.

Parts list
Stock crank
Scat rods
KB107 pistons with .039 quench
Reed solid roller(258ish@.050)
Shady dell stage II edelbrocks with 2.05 valves
Victor intake
Erson 1.6 rockers
Holley 830 annular

It has about 175psi of cranking compresion and runs on pump gas with 35* of timing locked out.

In good good air it has been 11.18@120.5 at 3525LBS in my full exhaust full street trim 68 Barracuda.

In that GOOD air it works out to about 500HP.

I also have Shady dell stage II ported Edelbrocks on my small block along with:

4” Eagle forged crank (410 cubes)
Scat I-beams
Diamond pistons (set up for 10.8:1 compression for pump gas)
Small solid "street" roller (248/254 @0.05 with .576/.582 lift)
Victor intake
750dp (on e85)
727, 8" converter, 4.10 gears, Hoosier DR 275/60/15
3" exhaust w/ Dynomax race bullets

About 3250-3200 lbs (not sure, have not weighed it in years)

In good air it ran 10.5’s @ 125mph, but usually 10.7’s @ 123 in the summer time crappy air.
