Yeah, Yeah, Yeah! all those altered Funnies get the most host play like the Sunday Funnies, but lets not forget the true and rude first funny cars, The ultra rare (8) yeah, that's right (8) 2% cars made between 64'-65'
Those 2% led the warning shout louder than Paul Revere that the altered wars were coming.

I was there for 4 days, had to bring 4 cars so it took a while!
I will never forget that show, best of all time and I was at the Englehart Reunion too, the second best of all time!
A memorium to THE man!

Sent this post to a member on here that back in the Eighties when we were both NHOA members, he went on an adventure of searching out all these cars. He has not posted in a couple of years on moparts, hope everything is OK with him. He knew a lot about all these 50 year old Hemis and many that were made from the 64s and other years.

It's a better fever to have then yellow.
Welcome to the Altered states of affairs.
By the way, Al Kirchenbaum wrote a great Mopar magazine article years back entitled "Altered states".
It was a great read and informative on the 15/10s. See you all this season at the track.

I talked with Lee Smith a little at the York Reunion when I took that pic, he was really cool. Not just hi, how are ya but some hardcore factoids to which he raised an eyebrow at me wondering how I knew this or that. He let me literally crawl around underneath the car which was great. Probably sort of odd seeing me on the floor under the car but when do you get to eyeball an original piece like that up close?
Those cars were truly wild. A factory altered wheelbase drag car just seems like an insane thing.

I'll run any Altered car here heads up for any amount of $$$ with my Altered Eazyrider chopper Minibike. First front wheel to the 20 ft mark wins. LOL.
Oh by the way, a friend of mine once threw away in the garbage an original 15/10 AFX stainless steel K-member because it was cracking along some points. Go figure.

The Baugher A/FX is the Godfather car that I had years ago.It was a 64 Plymouth SS car and converted to A/FX,the front is 65 Plymouth. You can see it has the large 64 tailights. The last time I saw it was in Hanover Pa. and owned by Wentz and his partner.Back about 1989 my son and I stop to see it and gave Jeff the original title.
